We did neocate for my son and for the first week he wolfed it down. 9 oz at a time he was literally starving. Since it didn't hurt and he could digest it I think. Then he went back to a normal pattern. So wait it out and see what happens. Good luck!

@Truth Bombs: That's my guess. When we were trying to find the right formula, once one sat well with her, she would eat more because her tummy didn't hurt - just like us, I guess! :)

I agree with @Truth Bombs. I have only breastfed but definitely noticed a better appetite when I eliminated all the "bad" foods from my diet. Hope it's a sign that he is feeling better!

@Truth Bombs: Good point! He never had any fussiness / signs that it was hurting while drinking...but he had been super constipated so maybe just overall his stomach was hurting from that. Now he is pooping like a champ so maybe he's ready for more sooner since its not all backed up inside him! Thanks :-)

If eating used to be painful for him and the nutramigen is helping to solve that issue then it would stand to reason that he would want to eat more often. That would be my guess as to what is going on.

I switched directly from breastfeeding to Nutramigen so it's hard to say since I don't know exactly what she was getting from the boob. If anything, I think feedings spaced out more because she was probably getting more ounces of formula than ounces of breastmilk at each feeding.

We are currently on day 3 of a 2 week trial of Nutramigen, trying to find a formula that works for my 4.5 month old. We did soy for a week but everything got a lot worse with that, so this was our pediatricians next idea.

It’s only been 3 days so I’m sure he is still getting used to it, but he seems hungry a lot more often on this formula than the regular soy and milk based formulas we used before. He used to only have one night waking, but the past two nights had two instead. We tried to just settle him but he seemed genuinely hungry and he sucked down an additional 5 oz bottle. During the day he was going 3-4 hours and this weekend it was more like 2-3 hours between bottles.

If you switched to one of these formulas, did you find they seemed hungrier / started eating more after the switch? One of his issues is weight gain, so I’m sure its fine / possibly even good that he is getting extra ounces, but his other issue is ridiculous spit up so giving him MORE to drink seems counter-intuitive to that!

Thanks!
