@lemondrop: hehe when I was pregnant I read your 'picked up a pen' story on a different thread and proceeded to try and bend over to pick things up a LOT more frequently.

The weekend before I went into labor, I did a ton of walking because we live in a walking neighborhood. I worked a full day at work and got McD's as a snack before going home. By 5:30pm, I was tired. Around 7pm, I couldn't sit still and started having contractions. LO arrived two days before his due date. I think for me, it was a lot of walking.

Nothing I did the few days before, but I think being active and walking a lot in the weeks beforehand meant baby came early :)

I ate a ton of pineapple, tons of walking, bouncing on a ball and read about pressure points on your feet. My mom and MIL kept giving me foot massages. There it's supposedly a point on your pinky toe that if u apply enough pressure it, it will help u go into labor. The night before my water broke I accidentally kicked the corner of my couch so hard my pinky toe started bleeding and about three hours later my water broke...I feel it was a coincidence but pretty funny how that happened

I tried everything under the sun except drinking castor oil- walking, raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose, blue cohosh, DTD, spicy foods, bouncing on the exercise ball, everything. I had a cervical check at 40+5 while I was in early labour, and gave birth at 41 weeks. Best of luck!

I went into labor on my due date. I had walked around an outdoor shopping mall that night and I was bouncing on a yoga ball when my contractions started (my first two contractions were 4 minutes apart, they never slowed down from there, and baby was born 12 hours later).

Nope.
I tried spicy food (like hot habanero sauce)
pineapple
foot massage
nipple stimulation
lots of sex
red raspberry leaf tea a million kajillion times a day

I ended up getting induced, but when I went in (40 weeks) I was already 5 cm dilated.

I was induced, but squats and bouncing on a ball helped get me to 4cm and 80% with very little pain. I mean I have no idea why I wasn't in labor at 4cm, but I dilated that much without any contractions so I'm not complaining. Anyway... try some deep squats!

Haha well I can't be *sure* that this is what caused it, but the night before my waters broke I did squats, went on a long walk, used the breast pump for like 2mins, and DTD. Who knows if any (or all!) of those things contributed, but hey, I went into labor the next morning!

Can you tell I was determined to get her out? LOL

Well, I got a sweep, walked a ton, and when my early labor contractions refused to get closer together I used the breast pump to stimulate my nipples. I think that last one put me into active labor, but my body was ready and I was already in early labor. My midwife suggested it, by the way.

We DTD an hour before my water broke at 38+5 so that's what I personally credit for it. I was also drinking raspberry leaf tea, walking, bouncing on an exercise ball and using my breast pump for the week before like it was my job. I did have a membrane sweep 4 days prior as well.

ETA: I always started having contractions during the nipple stimulation but they eventually went away every time.

I was 2 days overdue when I went into active labor. the day before I had a membrane sweep (2nd time in a week) and spent all afternoon, walking around with DH, and ate spicy food for dinner, and baby danced. I think it was the membrane sweep. But, you can't say I didn't try!

We ran a bunch of errands during the day, the night my water broke. I was standing at Lowe's waiting to DH to go grab something really quick, and the cashier asked me if I was having contractions cause of the cement floor. I said no, and then she told me that was something she heard.

I think getting adjusted helped push my "false" labor into early labor, and then using the rebozo & even a little melatonin really got my labor going.

I didn't try any other induction methods, though at 41+3 I was starting to really feel pressed (my MW had to transfer my care at 42+1 & that would have been an erc)

Other than something medical like a membrane sweep or, well, INDUCTION (haha) did something you did on your own start your labor?

(I know everyone is different and there's no one thing that works for everyone, I'm just curious!)
