@ScarletBegonia: yes I agree that the same morning wake time every day really helps with naps. It helps to set a consistent pattern.

Sleep begot (??) sleep for us. When A started sleeping through his naps became a lot more predictable - I think also because I started waking him up at a consistent time in the morning, so he would go down at a consistent time for nap #1. It might have been a coincidence but his awake time increased dramatically when he started STTN - from barely 2 hours to at least 3. We were able to fall into a rough 2-3-3 schedule pretty soon after he consistently started STTN. Our transition to 1 nap has been remarkably easy too, and I was really dreading it.

STTN let to great napping during the day but we had to be vigilant about paying attention to total wake time and hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. At almost 7 months, on an ideal day, DS sleeps about 11 hours a night and takes 2 naps during the day of about 1.5-2 hours each. I think his sweet spot at this age is about 14-15 hours of sleep a day so we watch for that.

DS didn't actually start STTN on a consistent basis until 20 months. Once he was his naps got so much better. Before we were lucky to get a 1.5 hour nap and now four months later it is a 2-2.5 hour nap.

I totally agree that sleep begets sleep.

Not for us. He started consistently STTN at 4 months. He's 6.5 monts now and his naps have only improved. He naps a good 4-5 hours a day total on top of 11-12 hours a night. I think there's SO much truth to the sleep begets sleep mantra.
But, I'm sure the answers you'll get to this will depend on LO's ages when they started STTN. Obviously if they were older like 8 months or more (God bless you all, I can't imagine) it may be time for them to naturally drop or shorten naps. So may not actually be related to STTN but rather their age.

Naps got way better actually!! We are in a sweet spot of usually sleeping through the night and then taking at least 2 hour naps during the day....sometimes longer. It's awesome. She has small regressions but nothing crazy. I hope it works that way for you!

DD is 14 weeks old when she STTN it seems to be when naps suck........but then again she has done it when she has slept a lot but that might be growth spurts.....

LO only started STTN a few weeks ago, at 18 months. It hasn't really changed her naps, but it makes her get up earlier in the morning.

LO who is 1 just recently started STTN after sleep training. Her naps have been ok the past 2-3 days but I'm worried she's going to shorten or drop them like her sister did around 15 months. I have a few months until that point but I'm super paranoid.

Once your LO started STTN did that affect their naps at all?
