@highwire: I don't view it as a waste necessarily, but it can be dangerous in certain states (like the one I live in, FL). Thankfully, in Florida, the candidate I'm most aligned with (he's not in the two-party system) has a good chance of cutting into the support of the two-party candidate I'm most terrified of. So I can actually vote the way I want and not screw myself into a president I despise.

It did not change my mind. I only watched the first half hour before I had to go to bed, but as usual I found the debates not that useful. The part I watched they were both arguing the entire time over whether Romney's plan would have a 5 trillion tax cut.

Everyone's being very nice here so I won't go into detail - but basically I'm so incredibly disgusted with the person I'm not voting for and last night did nothing to help his image with me.

@Coco Bee: idk. I have to disagree with highwire. Maybe if you live in a state that has a definite party vote (California, Texas, etc) but in an important swing state like FL or Ohio, a single vote could be the difference to the person you're voting for becoming president

@Coco Bee: In my opinion, it isn't a waste to go and vote for a candidate you believe in and support, even if they probably won't win. If the two big ones don't do it for you, that's okay.

I didn't watch... but I have to say I have no idea who to vote for. I don't like either candidates and feel that voting for any smaller party candidate is a waste of a vote since they never win.

No way. Although I wish my candidate had been more aggressive; at the end of the day my vote isn't about which candidate I prefer - it's the platforms and voting histories of the party as a whole that are most important as no matter what fluff a candidate might say, they need the full support of their party and will only get it if they don't stray too far from the established base.

I'm still undecided, but it didn't help me much. Like you all said, so much is just canned responses it doesn't really help. I'm still leaning the same way I was earlier, but this didn't really push me either way.

Being Canadian, I have no vote, but hubs was watching part of it (he's a political junkie), and you should be proud of both candidates. I loved that they didn't interrupt eachother, you could hear what they were saying, they listened to Jim Lehrer. I loved it. Canadian debates have disintigrated into shouting matches, you can't hear what anyone says and I swear, the moderator is there just for show. So, I'd take boring, predictable, unoriginal, etc, over the gong-show that we have.

Nope. I dont think these debates so much change people's intentions as much as they sway the swing voters one way or another. It was one of the more civil ones Ive watched, but it seemed disorganized and just boring. I dont know.
