She's not the first on DH's side and we don't live near them like our niece and nephew do. I think he/she will be completely spoiled until another grandchild comes along (which could be a while). I'm not concerned about my parents at all as they will make sure all of their grandchildren will receive equal attention. I am, however, a little worried about my MIL. They are my in laws only grandkids. I think my mom spent more time w my twins than my bros son who was born first because she was helping me out. But they live closer and have a newborn so my parents definitely see them more often now. The first grandchildren were born to the black sheep cousin. She doesn't concern herself with us and we don't with her. Everyone fawned over another cousin's first born. I even traveled along way to gift and decorate the nursery. My mom even sent a gorgeous, fancy dress for her 1st bday. BUT, we live only 15 minutes away, and my niece, who is a couple years younger than him, is an 8 hour drive away. So, he spends a lot of time with them. My parents favor him over my two nieces. He gets more money in his red envelopes and gets super spoiled by their love and affection. It's not fair, and I point that out to my parents all the time. My nieces are very close in age to my LO, but they are mixed (my LO is also mixed but of the Asian variety). I think it comes down to my LO looking more like them. Sigh. They volunteer to pick up DD from pre school but won't pick up DS ( they are at the same center). They say they are doing me a favor by picking her up, but since I still have to get DS it's not all that helpful. Last year she got an Easter basket but none for him, excuse was he's too young to notice haha. I feel kinda bad for my newborn niece...my MIL has only seen her once and she lives about 15 minutes away. My FIL hasn't seen her yet and says he "might" go visit her next week. I'm not expecting a lot for my baby who is due next month...lol!
