DH and I talked about this last night. I totally miss it. But she cuddles for a few minutes before going down for naps, so I guess there's a happy medium.

We sleep trained DS, and I never really missed it because I was so caught up on him sleeping "properly" and according to schedule. DS used to sleep amazingly, but now at 2yrs old his sleep habits aren't so great so he gets sneaky cuddles when he needs/ wants them at night.

But with DD, she is so easy going and doesn't have any bad habits that need to be addressed, so we haven't sleep trained. She has always settled herself and joined her sleep cycles, so on the rare occasion she cries when she is put down it is 99% of the time because there is something wrong.

Second time around I have learnt just to let kids do their own thing, some need cuddles more than others and that's ok- because it means I don't miss out either! :-)

Yes. She's been sleep trained for a few months now. I've let her fall asleep in my arms a few times after nursing since then because I miss it so much. So precious.

We haven't sleep trained yet but I miss holding him while he goes to sleep when DH does the bedtime routine so I'm sure I'll miss it!

@futuremrsmck first I established a daily routine. Then we did our own version of CIO. About half hour after breastfeeding, she would show signs of sleepiness, so we would put her down on her belly because she'll flip over if we try to put her down on her back. I turn off lights, turned on white noise, rubbed her back, and placed heavy blanket to cover up to mid back (she hates swaddles)

I think I'll miss him sleeping in my arms or in our bed but am looking forward to being able to do things while he's sleeping. We're leaning towards sleep training sometime in the next month (DS is 5 months old now)...how did you sleep train, if you don't mind me asking?

Nope. DS is getting too tall and too heavy for me to be comfortable - and he's only 3.5 months. That is part of the reason we are sleep training.

We also sleep trained at 7 months. Prior to that he only slept on us for naps. I had a decent system with the Ergo, but it needed to end. I do miss the cuddles sometimes, but I mostly love the freedom and like knowing he is getting good sleep in his bed.

Nooooo! When LO used to sleep in my arms, I would be chained to my chair for hours on end! LO never snuggled with me...I was just her sleep-biatch!

DD is finally sleep trained. Its an amazing accomplishment since she's 7 months and up until a week ago, would either only sleep in my arms or in our bed. So call me crazy, but now i miss holding her while she sleeps. Did anybody else miss holding their baby while they slept?
