@cranberryapple: She's 10, almost 11, months. But she did go through the 9 month regression at 8.5 months so maybe the 12 month is hitting at 11 months? I don't know. DD was much worse as a newborn, but aside from that, this is definitely the grumpiest she has been. She still smiles a lot but that smile turns into tears so easily!

How old is your LO right now?

My LO is 12.5 months and we are going through a similar rough patch. We visited my family for a week, and when he came back, he was so different....fussy and impatient as heck, would cry at the drop of a dime if something didn't go his way, only wanted mama for the first three days back from our trip, started waking up at night again, and I just wondered where my sweet, happy, easy-going baby went! He was seriously the fussiest/grouchiest he had ever been in his ENTIRE life!!! There was definitely a tooth breaking out, and he did get vaccines at his 12-month well-check, but even now, after two weeks.....though his moods are better, it's like the tantrum cryings are here to stay!! :(

I agree, it's probably a combo, but that is fine! It's all developmentally appropriate!

She will absolutely adjust, don't worry. You did not make a huge mistake. It's better that she is ok with someone else taking care of her... the adjustment back is the work you have to do to be able to go away or be away.

For this reason, whenever we planned to be away from Wagon Jr., we built in another day afterwards for re-adjustment for everyone. We haven't left both kids with anyone yet! But hope to soon! :)

FWIW I totally understand how you're feeling... so so so many times I've said to Wagon Sr. "I'm never going away again"! ;)

I think its probably part coincidence, part your trip. I would say the separation anxiety might be from your trip but the rest is coincidence, especially if she did well while you were gone.

Hang in there. Just give her a few days to get back to normal.

:/ I have no advice (helpful I know!) because E is only 2 months old, but I hope it is all just WW/missing mom/dad related and will pass soon!

DH and I had to go for three days out of town. The original plan was to bring LO with us but due to the schedule of events we decided to leave her at our place with grandma staying over. She loves her grandma and did great during those three days. She does best on a routine and it would have been greatly disrupted if we had brought her and we thought that she would just spend most of the time fussing.

However, when we came back, the separation anxiety that had been easing up was in full swing. She throws a huge fit every time one of us leaves the room, even if the other is right there, and if anyone walks out the front door, she melts down even if the other is HOLDING her.

Diaper changes are difficult. She was always squirmy but now she cries every time I put her down to change her.

Naps? Almost nonexistent. Yesterday she napped for 30 minutes, the whole day. She has never been a good napper but it's just at another level now. Thankfully nights haven't been affected much.

She is also teething. We are also in a wonder week.

I don't know what to do. I try to just keep going about my business but I'm sure our neighbors think we are terrible parents because she is so fussy!

Is it just a coincidence that this happened right after our little trip, or did we cause this?
