When we found out we were having a boy, his name was part of announcing. He already has a lot of personalized stuff. I have an uncommon name and never had anything personalized growing up so he's getting tons! Lol :)</p> <p>We haven't heard anything negative but LO is a Junior and DH was named after his dad but with his grandfather's name as a middle name (so DH is not a Junior). I think someone would have to be pretty ballsy and heartless to say anything negative about a strong, classic, family-honoring name. And they'd get a nasty earful from me because DH and I have been dreaming about Junior for years!</p> <p>Our pick for a girl was a soft, classic name (no family ties for the first name) and my mom's name for the middle name. No one said anything negative about our girl pick either. The name is classic but not super 10-girls-in-every-class common. At first we did it just cause we didn't want everyone's opinion. I also like it being a surprise for everyone when she gets here. Since we know it is a girl, this way they are even more invested in hearing when she arrives. The bonus is now that it is driving my family crazy not knowing. So I think it is fun. No one has asked us to reveal them, nor have they pushed us. I would be surprised if they did quite frankly. It's not common in my circle to say the name before the baby is born. Unfortunately, my FIL texted my parents his name (DH told them, but I was waiting to feed LO before I called my family.) and my SIL put it on Facebook, so that's how my sisters found out.
