We have already shared our name choice if we have a girl, Kaia Lynn. We haven't decided on a boy name... which is funny because I am almost 100% positive we are having one. I just feel it in my gut.

We haven't told anyone (including parents), but we're going one step further: as with Jewish tradition, we actually won't tell anyone until the naming ceremony a week after birth. After not telling for this long, what's a few more days...right?!

we didn't tell her name but we hadn't truly decided on it until a couple weeks before she was born. even then, i wanted to give us room to change it if she didn't look like the name we selected.

We shared our picks for boy and girl. When we found out we were having a boy, his name was part of announcing. He already has a lot of personalized stuff. I have an uncommon name and never had anything personalized growing up so he's getting tons! Lol :)

We haven't heard anything negative but LO is a Junior and DH was named after his dad but with his grandfather's name as a middle name (so DH is not a Junior). I think someone would have to be pretty ballsy and heartless to say anything negative about a strong, classic, family-honoring name. And they'd get a nasty earful from me because DH and I have been dreaming about Junior for years!

Our pick for a girl was a soft, classic name (no family ties for the first name) and my mom's name for the middle name. No one said anything negative about our girl pick either. The name is classic but not super 10-girls-in-every-class common. Everyone loved that her middle name would be my mom's name.

We shared DS's name with everyone before he was born. Everyone loved his name except my brother. I don't put too much stock in what my brother thinks though because the name liked was way weird....I am worried for his future kids.

I've told a couple of really random people the name just to test the waters, i.e., a substitute secretary at work I knew I'd never see again. They've all said they love his name! However, my in laws hate it and are really pushing for a Junior, sooo.... My lips are still zipped for fear of other opinions.

We are keeping it a secret. At first we did it just cause we didn't want everyone's opinion. I also like it being a surprise for everyone when she gets here. Since we know it is a girl, this way they are even more invested in hearing when she arrives. The bonus is now that it is driving my family crazy not knowing. So I think it is fun. Plus it is fun to hear all their guesses. It has been much easier keeping it a secret then I thought it would be. DH and I just call her by her nickname, so we, ok mostly me, doens't slip up. Only 6 weeks left, I can do it!

We were going to keep it a secret, but DH changed his mind and wanted to tell. That was fine with me, and I've told a lot of our good friends already since finding out we're having a boy. Nobody has had anything negative to say at all, and if they do, oh well! We like it and that's all that counts :)

We didn't tell anyone. Partly because we didn't want opinions, and partly because before I got pregnant, I thought it was totally weird to refer to someone by name who wasn't here yet (I totally get it now). But mostly because my husband and I wanted to keep it between us until our daughter was born. While I was pregnant we felt like we were the only ones who knew her, so we should be the only ones to know her name.

Totally kept the names a surprise. We loved the names we chose and spent tons of hours thinking and re-thinking them until we were absolutely sure. I didn't want any judgment until friends and family saw the girls and realized that the names we picked were the names destined for these babies!

We're Team Green and our plan is to have a short list of names and to decide after the baby is born. No one has asked us to reveal them, nor have they pushed us. I would be surprised if they did quite frankly. It's not common in my circle to say the name before the baby is born. People are already flabbergasted by the fact that we are Team Green, so I doubt they get past that. :)

We kept it a secret. We told close family and friends we weren't telling. Other people we would say that we didn't want to hear our families' opinions and if we hadn't told them, we felt like we couldn't tell others. Random people who asked in the grocery store I just said we hadn't decided. Most people in our generation understood, though it bugged my mil and mom! Maybe since so many people find out the sex, it's the surprise that's left?

I thought it would be really fun to share the news with people after he was born. Unfortunately, my FIL texted my parents his name (DH told them, but I was waiting to feed LO before I called my family.) and my SIL put it on Facebook, so that's how my sisters found out. I was pretty bummed. His middle name is after my dad....how could they not think I wanted to share that myself?

@grizz: I printed up game cards for the shower w/options for 1st and middle names, then announced the name right before gifts- it was a good ice breaker, I think. But just b/c it's your shower doesn't mean someone won't say something rude about your choice! (SIL) --I think that's the case whether you announce early, late or after the birth, though
