I went to a regular scheduled dr apt and stated having regular contractions about 30 mins before hand. At the appt she did a check ( but it was a resident and she was really digging around up there, so you could probably consider it a sweep haha.) They sent me to the hospital and I was there about 15 minutes later. As we were waking into the hospital I had a huge gush of blood. A lot. Baby was born less than 2 hours later. Sounds like you're close for sure!

Yes lots of blood after mine but I had already been bleeding for 5 weeks. But this upped the ante for sure. I went into labour the next day.

I might start timing the cramps! My contractions felt like period cramps at first!

I've had two so far, one at 38 and then today at 39 weeks. :) The first time I was 1.5cm and 30% effaced and the second I was 2/30 and so far just some pressure, no bleeding or even anything I can definitively call cramping with either one. Also, my baby is still fairly high up and hasn't dropped down much, so I feel like these sweeps are just wishful thinking. :)

I had a membrane sweep on 39+6, had some cramps, a good amount of bleeding & then mild contractions that night. Those died down overnight & then @ ~36h after the sweep my water broke & I was in labor until my LO was born 23.5h later. Good luck!!

This is EXACTLY what happened to me after a membrane sweep and it DID turn into labor when I was 39 weeks with LO 1.

I hope it's labor for you! Good luck! Try to rest! I was so excited with early labor signs I didn't sleep all night, and then labor kicked my ass.

9 hours later I'm still spotting and heavy cramping. I really hope it means something is happening down there!!!

@hilsy85: thanks friend!

@yellowbird: did it induce labor naturally at all for you?

I lost my mucous plug with DS1, and a lil bit of bloody show. The second one I got at my 40w appt did put me into labor the following day.... fingers crossed!

I didn't have a membrane sweep but i bled after every cervical check at that point. significantly. At 38.5 I was 3.5 cm and 80% effaced and had baby at exactly 39 weeks :) sounds like you're getting close- good luck!

I am 38.5 weeks and had my first membrane sweep mid-morning. OB said I was at 3cm and thinner than when he checked me two weeks ago... didn't give me a %, but I think I saw him typing 50 or 70% in the computer.

Anyway, I've had some mild cramping on/off for the last few hours and spotting and blood (bright red mostly) and a few mucousy pieces since the sweep too.

I'm not freaking out since he told me to expect bleeding. And it's not heavy enough to soak through a pad. But, it is pretty consistent.

I never had this with either of my sweeps with DS1 so just curious to what others' experiences are...!
