In Middle school, I started buying lunches but I was so worried about the cost that I just ate a small salad every day until my parents found out. I was so skinny and they were wondering why I had lost so much weight! I switched to buying deli sandwiches, usually roast beef which is my favorite. Then in High School, I was so bad. I bought a soft pretzel with hot nacho dipping cheese and at least three chocolate chip cookies every day. I would usually drink a coke on top of that. Middle school was about 90% sack. Our high school allowed seniors to go off campus for lunch but was so big and open that nobody could enforce the seniors only policy (they couldn't tell who was a senior and who wasn't) so I left pretty much every day. Some days I would go home since I only lived a few blocks away. Other days we would go out to eat. There were rare occasions that I would eat in the lunch room but never the hot lunch choice. I would get the salad bar, pizza, or a sandwich. My brother and I would pick out a couple days a month where we'd get the school lunch. On the days I didn't like the school lunch, I'd bring a lunch. In middle school, there were quite a few varieties to choose from so I always bought my lunch.
