When I worked in a childbirth education office I was told to request that SO or a support person join mamas at the class if at all possible. So it's not at all weird to have your DH there :)

There were two dads in my class and dh was one of them. I think it was very helpful for him to be there. First of all I have an awful memory, plus its all so overwhelming especially when your lo comes and is crying and hungry and you just cant think, it will be nice to have someone else there that will be able to help.

Plus my dh really enjoyed it. They showed a video of the first hour of life where they do skin to skin and the baby tries to latch on and just roots around till it finds the boob. Dh was amazed!

Probably 3/4 of the women in my class brought male partners with them, so it was definitely the norm in our class, and I was really glad DH was there to hear all that info for a variety of reasons, whether it was to understand how long feeding takes (he had no clue I was going to be spending literally half of the freaking day with a baby attached to my boob for a few weeks), what the different positions were (those first few weeks, he would help suggest positions or help me get LO into position), what it meant to have a good latch, etc. Definitely bring him.

My DH was one of 2 men in the class (there may have been 6-8 moms to be). I thought it was really helpful to have him there and it helped him to understand how he could offer support once LO was here since it was new to both of us.

Like PP have said, it was great to have 2 sets of ears and both of us be educated. That way, when he was holding her he could see her hungry cues and get her to me. It also made it so that he understood what was happening with my body to know she was getting what she needed from me! Also, he really liked it and learned a lot of cool facts about boobs:)

Yup, I was told to bring hubby to breastfeeding class! They said that at 2 am when we're both exhausted, hopefully someone will remember *something*! haha

DH was really interested in the content, though. He said it was cool to learn "how all this stuff actually works" lol. I guess a boob isn't just a boob anymore! :D

My husband came with me to the class, and then he also came with me to my first couple appointments with the lactation consultant. Like @jessiejo17 said, it was helpful to have two sets of ears, especially when I had pregnancy/new mom brain and forgot everything.

I was told to bring him, and there was one other husband in our class, but there were also a few single moms in the class. It really wasn't a big deal at all, not really awkward that I could see.

We found it extremely helpful, he learned that there is so much more to it than just popping the baby on the boob. In the early days he helped me get a good latch, and he was very supportive when I had difficulties.

Our midwife TOLD me to bring my hubby! It's VERY important to have their help and understanding when you're crying and feeling like an awful mom because you can't get your 3 day old baby to latch, or you're screaming in pain because your nipples hurt so freakin' bad.
Bring him :)

Nope, not weird. My husband was worried he would be the only father there but I assured him that I really doubt it. But if he was he's allowed to leave.
We show up and guess what? 75% of the fathers were there!

I haven't actually outright asked him yet, but in our discussions, it sounds like he's planning to come. He wants to be able to help me if I struggle, and the only way to do that is to get educated! This way he can make a suggestion that I may be forgetting in my hysteria/exhaustion/whatever!

Ok, I know it might sound strange to even consider bringing him - I'm not even sure what goes on in these classes! My hubby is very hands on and likes to know about everything going on. He offered to go to the class if I'd like him to, and part of me thinks it would be nice for him to understand the process, but is it weird?
