We have a Carter's PNP and just use the mattress that came with it. DS has never had any issues sleeping in it. We do use sheets with it so we don't have to worry about his cheeks sticking to the mat.

The mattress isn't the best... it's very hard. We use a quilted sheet to add extra padding.

We just use the mattress that our pack n play came with & use a pack n' play sheet over it. We only use it for travel now, but we did use the bassinet feature when DD was a newborn

I didn't. Mine came with a not so comfy "mattress" but I just put a cozy blanket down and LO liked it fine.

@Crumbs: it's a cute playpen! If you think you will end up cosleeping i dontthink you will need a mattress...it is definitely not necessary. That brand seems to do a lot of mattresses and it always helps to read the reviews to figure out what fits. I am glad you settled on a playpen!

@MamaCate: That's the same mattress brand I was looking at. It's the only one that fits this playpen, which BTW, my mom ended up getting. We're betting LO will end up just co-sleeping with us, so it'll mainly be used as a play pen. I like it cause it's a little bit bigger and taller than the Graco ones.

We have a graco and used the bassinette attachment for the first few months when LO slept in our room. It comes with a foldable pad more than a mattress but it was fine with a mattress pad and sheet.

When we flew to grandma's we ordered another graco that will stay there. My mom wanted a mattress so we got one on amazon and LO did seem more comfortable. I think it was the dream on me brand and was around $30. I can check if you want more info. So, not a necessity but nice.

I used a quilted sheet over the mattress board and then the regular sheet on top of that (because the quilted sheet pilled a lot.

If I could find a separate mattress I would totally get one. LO hates the one the pack n play came with! We always have to pad it with whatever we can find where we are.

Yes, we use the MamaDoo Kids mattress topper for extra comfort and support. It is firm and folds in 3! Good luck!

We have a Graco pack n play. We didn't get a separate mattress, but my LO only uses it for travel and she used to use it to play in, so she's not in there too much.

I've getting a headache searching for play yards for grandma's house. I wanted her to get one that'll fit our crib so I can steal the sheets after, but just realized cribs are totally different sizes in Sweden (even IKEA cribs are a different size here)! Then I realized that there's different sized pack 'n plays and none of them match the sizes of my play yard (which is the also the same size as my crib). Whew!

Soooo, my options are a standard sized Graco pack 'n play. Or an odd sized (a little bigger) play yard that's supposed to be sturdier. I'm leaning towards the bigger one unless the Graco already comes with a comfy mattress.

Do you have a Graco Pack 'n Play? How's the mattress? Did you end up buying a separate mattress? I won't be transporting it, so I don't mind if it doesn't fold. It'll just be left at grandma's house.

P.S. I'm so glad I didn't buy sheets over at Swaddle Designs during their super sale, because they wouldn't have fit!
