No. And LO sleeps just fine in it.

She sleeps on a foam mattress in a pack n play at her grandparents house- her sleep there is the same - no better, no worse.

No mattress. If I used it instead of a crib maybe I would have. I did have about three months where I used it everyday for naps, but she seemed fine. To me it seems uncomfortable, but I remember having a conversation with some friends and they said their bodies are so small, they don't feel sleep discomfort like we do on a hard surface like the floor or pack and play because they don't weigh much and that made a lot of sense to me.

Nope, too worried about SIDS risk. And when LO was >1 yr I would put a thick blanket down for extra padding.

No we did not. We have one that stays at my parents house for him to sleep in when we visit. I got a plush (slightly padded) sheet to go over the pack n play mattress that came with it.
He's never seemed to be bothered by it. Maybe because his crib mattress at home is very firm.

We did, but only because we had to move out of our house for 8 weeks for a renovation. DD slept in the PnP for that time and I wanted it to be more comfortable for her since it would be a long-term thing.

Yes we did. Our pack and play is old and the bottom is SO hard. The mattress is very light and just goes on top of everything in our trunk once we've loaded up.

Nope. She was fine. It was enough for the small amount of time she spent in it. A mattress would have meant lugging one more thing with us when we traveled with it. (haha like you mentioned)

Absolutely. DD1 slept so crappily (or rather didn't sleep) when we tried just the pad. We got the mattress and she slept through the night. Totally worth it for us. Won't travel without it. It fits fine in the car. Had to buy another one to keep with my brother in another state, but don't mind because she sleeps SO MUCH BETTER.

Nope!!! He does just fine on the mattress that came with it, and we didn't want to add anything soft before age 1 to reduce SIDS risk anyhow.

No, we didn't get a separate mattress. I don't have room to lug that around from place to place and I wouldn't want my kid to get used to sleeping on the mattress since we wouldn't be able to take it everywhere. I did get a quilted sheet for it though, which I do think helps!

Following. My son is 15 months and sleeps terribly in his. We are going to the in laws for a week over Christmas and I ordered a mattress off Amazon to be shipped to their house. I am just going to leave it there when we leave, it was only $30. I hope he will sleep better with it.

I've finally decided to just go ahead and get a pack n play. I see from a lot of reviews that people purchase a mattress to go with it. Did any of you do that? I cant imagine carrying a mattress around with it
