If I used it instead of a crib maybe I would have. I did have about three months where I used it everyday for naps, but she seemed fine. We have one that stays at my parents house for him to sleep in when we visit. I got a plush (slightly padded) sheet to go over the pack n play mattress that came with it.<br /> He's never seemed to be bothered by it. DD1 slept so crappily (or rather didn't sleep) when we tried just the pad. We got the mattress and she slept through the night. Totally worth it for us. Won't travel without it. It fits fine in the car. I don't have room to lug that around from place to place and I wouldn't want my kid to get used to sleeping on the mattress since we wouldn't be able to take it everywhere.
