@lawbee11: yup, I wore nursing tanks (both the ones with the clip down straps and the v necks that you just pull over) and soft sleep bras (from motherhood and target) for the first 5-6 wks. I was SO excited to put on a real (nursing) bra!

I would suggest just getting tanks and maybe a cheap bra to start, and then waiting as long as you can on the bras. I bought some bras after a month or so, and then my size kept changing and they were just wasted.

@hilsy85: So did you just wear nursing tanks and no bras until your supply regulated? Did you sleep in nursing tanks?

I bought some cheap maternity bras and a nursing tank. I had one nursing specific top and wore that while pregnant but wasn't too flattering pp so I just wore normal clothes with nursing bras/tanks underneath.

I second the Glamourmom tanks. I have the full bust, long one too and it's great! (I wore a 32f pre baby and am a 34h while nursing.) I bought two nursing bras at 37 weeks and then two more at 3 weeks postpartum. I only have two nursing specific shirts, and they're great for times I know I'll be nursing in public.

I'd get tanks for the beginning! I just got some 'real' bras at 5 months pp now that it's warmer and I want to wear more fitted clothes. I thought I'd buy nursing specific clothes but.. turns out my regular clothes pull up just fine :)

I bought some nursing tanks before. It was nice having them handy and I ended up buying more b/c I lived in them during my maternity leave.

Couple of comfy bras and tanks. I stocked up on the tami tanks from old navy. You can pull them down and they don't stretch. I pretty much wore those tanks and yoga pants every day of my maternity leave plus the sports bra style clip down nursing bras from motherhood

The only thing I bought before LO was nursing bras. I wish I had at least bought nursing tanks to wear, especially for when I was in the hospital. I was a 42EE/F by the end of my pregnancy. The tanks I ended up getting after were from motherhood and the coverage was great for me. They were super soft too.

I bought an underwire nursing bra towards the end of my pregnancy because I couldn't find anything else that fit right. I also bought 2 sleep nursing bras and one tank so I had something at the hospital/right when coming home. My aunt bought me another tank the day we got home, and I'd actually like a couple more.
The sleep bras and tanks fit great even after my milk came in. I just bought my regular size @ 37 weeks. I don't have any plans to put on the underwire for a while though!

I bought some cheap target nursing tanks which were amazing the first 5 wks. Then I bought some nice nursing bras, and that's what I've had since. I would wait to get any bras until your milk supply regulates (6-8wks usually).

A couple of nursing tops were gifted to me, but they aren't very flattering. I did buy one tank--a Glamourmom nursing tank (in large bust, long) that has worked great for me (I was a DD/E pre-pregnancy and I have no idea what i am now, but definitely bigger). It has a built in bra. Honestly, regular bras feel kind of restrictive right now, so I like that this is more of a cotton-y support.

I got 2 night time nursing bras before LO was born, and then bought day time ones, and more night time ones after. That way I didn't have too many of one size in case it didn't work out. Luckily they fit and I just had to go buy some more PP.

I bought some nursing bras but I should've bought some tanks. I ended up sending DH to Target because it's all I wore for weeks.

I'm wondering when it's a good idea to buy nursing tops? I'd kind of like to be able to wear nursing tanks, but I already have DD boobs, and I'm not sure if they'll work or what size to get. But I'd like to have some things ready when I come home from the hospital. Should I just get pull down shirts for at first? And how about nursing bras - I know you don't know what size you'll be, so how do plan for these things?
