I did still carry LO while pregnant. I had no choice. But it didn't bother me too much. I just kept reminding myself to bend at the knees, not at the waist.

@ Sulli - We only ever used the back position with DD; we didn't start using the Ergo until she was 1 year, and then we never used the front carry.

@Honeybee: Good to know! I haven't ever carried LO except in the front position with my ergo & it will be hard to give up because we both love it! I need to try the back & side. How old were your LOs when you started using the back position?

I never stopped carrying DD; she ranged from about 20 - 25 pounds during my pregnancy. My doctor said that you don't want to introdcue new forms of stress. So, if you're already used to carrying your older LO around, your body should be fine with that. It's introducing new weights during pregnancy that can be a problem.

@ Sulli - I still used the Ergo with DD until I was about 20 weeks, but I had to wear her way up on my back. You'll show sooner with #2, so it may be more uncomfortable sooner to use a carrier with #1.

@chopsuey119: DD is around that size too & I've been worrying about this. Can we carry them in carriers like the ergo or probably not? I guess that wouldn't really work much longer anyways...not once we get bellies

Doc told me to avoid any lifting that causes a sensation of pelvic pressure. I lift my babe a lot but if my husband is around I'll let him do it.

I carried my kids throughout pregnancies. The first was easy. My son was a newborn when I was pregnant with my twins. When I was pregnant with my fourth I still carried all three boys. I carried them until it hurt then put them down. I was 38 weeks pregnant and we had gone to a pumpkin patch festival. My oldest was one month shy of 3 and about 32 pounds. He threw a fabulous tantrum. And I stil hauled his behind our of there kicking and screaming on my shoulder. Granted i was tired after that but I was still able to carry him

I read that lifting heavy things can hurt your back, but won't hurt your LO. I probably just would try not to do it as much.

Yes, I totally do. He's 30lbs but I still have to lift him up from time to time. I'm not gonna do it as much now that I'm entering the third trimester.

I sometimes carry Wagon Jr. up the stairs for bed or to the car, etc. I definitely pick him up at least once a day. He's 30 lbs!! Ack!!

I try not to hold him for too long though. Thankfully Wagon Sr. is usually with me.

I definitely carry my 27lb toddler around. He is 14months old and very much into Mommy all the time.

I'm actually worried about him and what he's going to be like when I have his little sister in June and can't pick him up for a while.

From what I have read, I think all of the rules about lifting things in pregnancy is more about injury to YOU not the little babe. Ie, you could pull a muscle, whatever. Most second time moms that I know continued to carry their tots through pregnancy,
