For #1, we used an Arm's Reach cosleeper and the transition to crib went pretty smoothly.

For #2, we are using our pack n play, as we wanted another flat surface. We did get a swing this time around, as we wanted a safe spot for baby to sleep off the ground in our living room. We'll see what he likes.

I only have one so far, but started her in her crib beside my bed from day one. I don't own a rock and play and she would nap in her swing sometimes. I would often try to lie her down in her little bassinet downstairs if she wasn't on me. If I couldn't fit a crib in my room then I would have used a pack and play for beside my bed as several people I know have done that. We stopped swaddling around a month in and just used a sleeveless sleep sack. I don't know if we were lucky or just had few sleep things to transition from, or both, but I would attempt the same process for another baby and hope for similar results!

She moved to her own room with her crib at 6 months old.

DD slept in the baby swing or with us most of the time :( DH and I didn't get much sleep until we finally got her to sleep in the crib at 9 months old. With this baby, I am getting an in-bed cosleeper for the first month or two, and then doing PnP in our room until I feel comfortable with the kids sharing their room overnight. I hope to do naps in the real crib from the start.

For #1 we used the PNP in our room and he took at least one nap in his crib every day and other naps were in his swing. He still didn't sleep through the night until about 2 weeks before he turned one. For #2 she hated being flat on her back and she slept in the RNP until 10 weeks. Then I transitioned her to her crib by making a crib nest. http://www.hellobee.com/2013/09/03/surviving-reflux-colds-angle-sleeping-and-crib-nests/ It was rough for about 3 nights, then she was fine. She still naps in the swing most of the time... we have a fisher price snuggabunny swing and I LOVE that thing so much.

We used a PNP for a few weeks and then moved to a crib. Used a swing for some naps but honestly it didn't help that much.

Neither of my kids technically STTN until a year old. But, they did have a very consistent sleep schedule of going to bed in their crib and waking about 2 times per night.

We had a rough RnP to crib transition as well. I want to get the Halo bassinet which is flat so hopefully that will be easier.

Using a PNP again for #2 but it's not going well, so she ends up cosleeping anyways. I think I'll try the RnP tonight, so doing the opposite of what you are trying to do! Im trying to sleep now and deal with the fallout later!

We had a RnP for DS and he hated it, so we used the PnP with him (or co-slept) at the beginning. For LO2, I got an Arm's Reach co-sleeper. Hopefully she'll like it more than DS liked the RnP. DS liked the swing if he was already asleep, but it wasn't exactly a miracle worker. And it didn't seem to affect his ability to sleep elsewhere.

I I had the same thought process and intended on the baby sleeping in our UB vista bassinet to start. She had other plans and ended up sleeping in the rock and play anyway. Eventually around 4-5 months she started not sleeping as well in it and fighting the swaddle so we transitioned to the Merlin sleep suit and pack and play in our room, which went very smoothly. Then she got a bad cold and is teething something awful and I haven't slept in two weeks but that's not the fault of any sleep equipment.

She can't go into the crib because it's in the toddlers room (2 bedrooms) and they aren't ready to share yet.

We have a PNP and RNP from last time and someone handed down their bassinet to us for DS2.

DS1 had reflux so we had him in the RNP for about 6-8 weeks then we went with inclined crib which we lowered at 4 or 5 months. We never had a swing mostly because I was too cheap to buy one and we had no room for it.

This baby is 4 weeks old. First and second week we had jaundice and needed to put him on a bili blanket that made him really pissed and I had a C-section so we mostly had to hold him or cosleep (which we are not into). Week 2 at the advice of a NICU nurse, we lined the RNP with a dirty shirt, swaddled him tightly, and then laid a warm rice sock across his tummy or flank like an arm holding him. We started getting some stretches in that. During the 3 week growth spurt we transitioned to dirty shirt and unheated rice socks inside the bassinet since he was sleeping like crap anyway. Then last week we stopped the shirt and rice socks and now he's just in the bassinet with swaddle. Once he's bigger and probably ready to be booted from our room we will transition him to the PNP lined with a Dream on Me mattress (mostly bc I'm too cheap to buy another crib and DS1 is still using his). The bassinet I wouldn't go out of the way to buy but it's convenient that it has a smaller footprint and I can fit it in my walk in closet, which is where baby sleeps right now.

With my LO, we used a Rock n Play and a swing for her sleep until 12 weeks, and then when we tried to transition to the crib (and out of the swaddle), it all went to hell. The 4 month sleep regression hit soon after and basically we ended up experiencing the worst 2 months of sleep deprivation I could ever have imagined, right when I was transitioning back to work.

I'm determined to try not to repeat my mistakes, so I'm thinking that with LO2, I may try to get him to sleep on a flat surface sooner. My co-worker was describing how they used a Pack and Play from the beginning (no RnP, no swing) and their baby was sleeping through the night at 3 months (mine didn't STTN until 10 months, even after sleep training). Then again, every baby is different, so who knows if their gear had anything to do with it.

Anyway, just curious if anyone switched gear between LOs if they had a rough experience with the first one and how it ended up going. We actually lost both our RnP and swing in a basement flood last year, so we need to buy new gear regardless. I am just not sure what to replace them with, and if it will even make a difference in the end.
