Though I have no idea why I got the paid leave I did, my Dr signed off for 12 weeks ahead of time basically because that is how long I could get paid for and then I ended up getting paid 13. You get those extra 2 weeks because you need them to recover from a major surgery. I ended up with an emergency C-section so I guess it was a silver lining.</p> <p>I am due with LO2 in May and we are going for a repeat C-section, mostly due to how my induction went and my pelvic structure (the doctors think my kids just get stuck in my pelvis in a weird way because of its shape which makes vaginal delivery hard), but with a toddler, it IS nice to be able to pick a day and know when to have childcare coverage and all that, on top of the 8 weeks of disability.
