L just dropped her 2am feeding last week. It took a few days but my supply regulated and I'm not that engorged in the morning. I wore nursing pads to sleep the first couple days to avoid leaking all over the sheets.

Early on when mine started STTN I had bad leaking and engorgement in the morning. But it got better, quickly. I'd just get a good set of bra inserts, or failing that, a thick towel to sleep on. You'll regulate really quickly.

If you're waking up out of discomfort then just hand express into the sink to take the edge off. I've squeezed my boob for a few minutes in the middle of the night an I've had no repercussions from it (I.e. I was totally fine the next night).

My body adjusted after a few nights. She started STTN about 3 weeks ago and after 1 week, my boobs weren't rocks in the AM anymore.

My body just adjusted after a few nights. I was in so much pain by morning though! I just make sure I pump right before I go to bed.

Any other takers? :D I'm now down to one feeding, but last night, I let him sleep through the night and was too worried about my rock-hard left boob to sleep for myself!!! Every time he made a noise, I got up and hoped I could feed him, but nope! He just decided to sleep 'til the morning. I know, I shouldn't complain! =P

@Sammyfab: Yes, I do get plugged ducts on my right breast, which is mainly why I'm concerned! :( However, it's my left breast that is the one that is super engorged. I can't decide whether the right breast is undersupplying, or whether the left one is oversupplying! >_< Glad to hear it only takes 1-2 nights to adjust though!

@Thehistoryofus: I feed my LO right before he goes to bed, which is around 8PM. His one feeding is around 3AM, but I only give him one breast each time to make sure he empties it. I'll do the morning pumping since I want to get in the habit of letting DH feed the baby before he goes off to work in the morning. Thanks!

Are you prone to blocked ducts? If not, I wouldn't do anything unless you want to build a stash. When my LO dropped nightfeeds it would only take 1-2 nights of discomfort for my body to adjust.

If you are prone to blocked ducts, my midwife recommended I take lethicin (12 pills a day).

What times do you feed LO and what time do you go to bed?

I know a few moms that will nurse and put LO to bed at 8, pump a bit at 10 before they go to bed.

Another option is to wake up a little bit early and pump some.

It will even out, don't be afraid to pump if you are in pain!

So, my 10 week old baby has now dropped down to one night feeding from two, which is huge progress in my eyes;, however, I'm finding my breasts to be engorged and I'm not sure what to do. I've heard that even pumping it just a little might encourage it to produce more milk. So, is this just something I let pass? I'm super afraid of getting a breast infection again if I leave it for too long! I'm wondering if my LO can actually sleep through the night, and that it is I that wants to feed him to rid myself of the discomfort! It's like I'm hovering over him while he sleeps waiting for him to fuss for food! How did you ladies deal with this? I've heard some say their LO just suddenly "blessed them" with 10-12 hours of sleep, but I keep wondering how their breasts handled this sudden blessing!
