Just curious for those that received this screen... was the gender accurate vs your anatomy scan at week 20?

I did the panorama test as well. I have a sibling with a genetic disorder so it was important to me to get it done. Since I live in canada it wasn't covered even with extended health care. So it was about $900 out of pocket. But it's the most accurate on the market and could be done early, and we were able to find out the gender early as well!

The test we are offered here in the uk are different but I am opting out of all but the scans this is because we would npt terminate anyway and the tests only give you a probability. So you could potentially have a high probability and a healthy baby or vice versa. It just seems like added anxiety to me.

I did this as well - the Harmony - and I'm only 28 and lucky to not have any risk factors. We simply liked the idea of such a non-invasive test for such great information.

We are opting to not find out the sex of our baby, so our midwifery clinic left out that info when they called with the results. But it's crazy to think that they know and have since I was 12 weeks!

@Arden: I called our insurance and the lab/bloodwork company SO MANY TIMES and eventually found out that my insurance MAY cover it (they are on a list of companies that came out in a letter of support of these kinds of tests AND it is in their lab test book), but we wouldn't know for sure. I also finally found out that the Harmony fee was $795 and if our insurance would not pay, that's what we'll pay. We're hoping to get some of it covered under the lab/bloodwork coverage policy of our insurance but know we may be fighting it for quite a long time. Also, I know that each test has a different 'out of pocket' cost and many offer a lower cost for patients who have no insurance/are denied payment of their insurance. The Harmony specifically just wasn't one of those. Materni21 or Panorama may have this lower cost possibility.

@however briefly: I'm 30, and I am choosing to have this done. I doubt my insurance will cover it at all since I am under 35 years of age, but my OB told me that if my insurance rejects the claim, I will get to pay a reduced fee of approximately $250 that is not applied to my deductible. This is for the Panorama test though! For me, this is worth it because I remember having to pay almost $200 for the NT scan and blood testing the last time around!

So cool!
I had to do IVF with PGD, so when our baby was a wee 5day embryo we could have know the gender!
Our RE offers to tell us every time we see him and it is SO HARD to say no! We are going to try to wait until 12 weeks to find out. No scan or blood test needed they just need to flip to a page in our chart.
Did I mention that it's really hard to not find out now???

@Mrs. Jump Rope: usually it's called the Harmony or Materniti21 test. It seems to be only for those in a risk category because it can be expensive and not always covered. But it does tell you lots of answers including the sex.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: the new tests are able to separate baby DNA from mother DNA in a blood draw. I believe gender is 99.9% accurate. The accuracy on genetic abnormalities is high, but varies by test. Materniti21 is the most common one. I got the Panorama which is newer to the market and the high risk OB said he expects it to be the top test of all that are currently available. They are all less than two years old. It gave me a lot of piece of mind and insurance covered it (should for all over 35). The Panorama can be done as early as 9 weeks. Most others are 10 weeks and higher.

Yes, we did. Our first pregnancy ended in miscarriage due to a chromosomal abnormality, so they offered us the blood test. It made me feel a lot better when the results came back normal (and it was pretty cool to find out gender at 13 weeks). I had the blood draw at 12w2d and we got the call exactly a week later.
