@hilsy85: if you can attend... the Saturday classes on the UWS with Frances are awesome. LOVE her!! Tina Fey attended a class once too... she was two mats away from me!!! i do think it's a great prenatal (and postnatal) center in general... their yoga classes are also 90 min (there's group sharing in the beginning and relaxation/meditation time)... you really get your money's worth.

I'm 7w and have been continuing my normal exercise program without any issues (3-5 days of weight training and cardio). I love it, because I feel great and it wipes out any of the light pregnancy symptoms I get. I want to keep up my stamina/muscle strength for a natural labor. :) Yoga sounds like a great idea!

Also, I think it's MUCH easier to deal with 2nd/3rd trimester fitness when you're fit to begin with.

I've done a couple of at home dvds early on, but I'm waiting until the second trimester to join a class. :)

I did a prenatal yoga class and loved it (doing another 6 week session now!). It really did help a lot on reducing pain I was having, and it was also nice to have one hour a week dedicated to just myself to focus on relaxing, recentering, breathing, etc. The day after yoga is usually the best I feel all week – the most pain-free and the most centered feeling.
I started in the mid-20-week range (can’t remember exactly, maybe 24 weeks along?), and most people in the class were in the 20-week range or further along. One lady was 16 weeks.

I did weekly prenatal yoga from about 12 weeks. It really helped with my heartburn!

Love prenatal yoga! It definitely helped keep me fit and feeling good. I think it also helped me prep for my med-free birth. You're in NYC right? Check out Prenatal Yoga Center... I don't think 13 weeks is too early. There were many 2nd and 3rd tri mamas in my classes.

I tried to do the ones at home and quit after trying twice. I'm not big into exercise in the first place so that probably didn't help things...

I'm really interested in doing either prenatal yoga or pilates, because I've heard such good things about how they can help you stay in shape during the pregnancy and keep some of the uncomfortable symptoms at bay. Has anyone taken these classes while pregnant? If so, when did you start? I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and wondering if it's too early...?
