I saw them cleaning it up. I had no idea it was so common as I'd never heard it was a thing before I did it. I was so worried about it happening before I was in labor but when it actually happened when I was in labor IDGAF! I was pushing out a baby and the my Dr and nurse said to push like I would if I was pooping. I felt like I had to go the whole time I was in labor. I was induced. It's all part of labor and I think it happens most of the time anyways. Eh whatever, I got a baby at the end of it. I pretty much knew it would happen. I was induced so it's not like everything got cleared out beforehand. I wasn't very far dilated but I was in a lot of pain and I had to go but with all of the contractions I just couldn't do it when I tried. So I knew it was coming! I mean, it's not like you just take an enormous poop but for awhile every time you push a little bit comes out lol. I didn't care. Although when I was 4-5 cm dilated right before I got my epi, I felt that I needed to poop, so I went on the toilet and I did. it wasn't much but i felt better. But then as I was pushing, I saw the midwife kind of wipe away a bit and grab something. But it makes sense, you're using all of the same muscles!! I think I might have with DD1 because I have a vague recollection of the midwife deftly swiping away that little waterproof pad and putting another one down in a matter of about three seconds in between my pushes. I can only guess that was for one reason but I don't know for sure. I had a long induction and they only let me have liquid "food" (chicken broth, jello), then I threw that all up so I don't know what would have been left to come out. I might have peed, though. I had to pee constantly and when they catheterized me it hurt like a bitch (epi failed) so I wouldn't let them do it again.
