As everyone else has said, the older one will be really interested in the baby so it is easy to involve them. Right now, I can't spend as much time with DD1 as I would like and she's on Team Daddy for the first time ever, but it'll get better. I just happened to have DD2 in the dead of winter and we are mostly stuck at home. Other than the breast feeding part. It was a lot easier to know what to expect and that the hard times don't last forever.</p> <p>@Mrs. Pen: somehow it just works! DS was really interested in having a new baby, he treated her like a house guest, haha. He plays independently pretty well too. The only difficult part was disciplining DS while holding baby (like putting him in a time-out). If I realized he needed mom time, DD would go in her swing and usually fall asleep while we played and cuddled. So whenever she's awake we involve him. And she sleeps a lot! He goes around daycare telling everyone "shhh, LMW is sleeping"! I had a similar experience. I am not so stressed out and not crying! I enjoy holding her while she sleeps and I know that she won't wake up so many times a night forever - here's hoping anyway! And our nursing sessions have been relaxing from the start since I have done this before. </p>
