There were tons during the summer. I don't remember putting them in jars, but they were so ubiquitous that we eventually stopped noticing them at all. Which is a little sad to me now. I loved catching them, and my sister loved smushing them on her clothes. She was a bit morbid. :)</p> <p>We went to see the synchronized lighting bugs 2 summers ago, and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Then the whole jar would light up with the collective light of dozens of lightning bugs! It was truly an amazing thing to behold.</p> <p>Ah, childhood.
