I wish I could have! I would have had to write sub plans, which is sometimes harder than teaching. I puked at work many times, unfortunately.

I sucked it up because I didn't want to take any days off because it came off my maternity leave. It sucked throwing up and being so nauseous at work.

I made my own schedule so just didn't schedule on days I felt bad with my first two. This time around I'm not working.

I feel the same way you described. I feel like I have been living on a boat for the last 2 weeks and it is non-stop. I wake up in the middle of the night still feeling like this. I haven't contacted my doctor yet because I hate taking medications during pregnancy.

I think I left a couple days early before I started diclegis, which really helped me keep it together at work.

My job was super flexible. I worked from home sometimes, worked in the office sometimes. Other times I wouldn't work for a couple a days. It just depended on how bad the day was.

I did. I'm only at 13 weeks and I have been in the hospital twice for hyperemesis. These twins are kicking my butt.

So far I've taken 7 days for 'sick' but didn't have to officially use my actual sick days. I had unofficial work from home or past weekend travel to not use my sick days. I think I have used 4 sick days.

My boss knows and approved my time card.

I am afraid of going back in the hospital and using sick or might have to use vacation days. Though my boss was going to ask HR about short term disability and hoe that works considering I'll have to use STD for my Mat leave

I didn't, but I thought about it every single day for 4 months. I was on three anti-nausea medications though, so it made it slightly more bearable. Slightly.

I took naps at lunchtime either in my car, in the gym lounge, or at home. Deep breathing got me through some of the rougher early days too when I felt horrible.

Definitely talk to your doctor. MS hit me last week and working was horrible. My doctor recommended Unisom and B6 which has helped take the edge off. I've considered taking time off work/leaving early but I'm afraid if I start taking off when I feel gross that I'll never be going to work.
Hope you start feeling better soon!

No, but I did end up leaving my job, in part because of morning sickness. I wasn't happy with my job, and we already knew I was going to be a SAHM, so it made sense. Looking back I am SO GLAD I did. I had a rough pregnancy, and it was worthwhile to be able to really take care of myself.

I worked from home a ton. (more than my usual flex schedule). I think I took a half day once just because I needed to just shut down for the day in bed.

Yes! I ended up taking a few days. I had hypermesis, and ended up getting unbearable headaches when I vomited for several weeks of the pregnancy. It felt like my head was going to break apart. It was nice to just lay in bed in the dark and not stare at a computer or smell anyone for a while. I don't think anyone should judge if you're having a rough day of sickness and you need a break.

i didn't, but there are differing degrees of nausea and if you need the physical/mental break, then i say go for it and take the sick leave. also, have you talked to your OB about any medication? zoloft, diclegis and others may help take the edge off so that you don't feel so horrible. it's a really gross feeling, i'm sorry!

This is my first pregnancy and I have been feeling quite green. I am nauseous all day everyday, sensitive to smells, and can only stomach bland foods. I've read lots of tips on morning sickness, but I just can't focus on doing my job, or anything else, right now. I was thinking about taking a sick day or two, but I feel like such a baby. Has anyone else had to take work off for morning sickness?
