Do you have an anterior placenta? I did not. Once I started feeling movement, I felt it every day with both of my LOs.

It wasn't until later that my dr had me do kick counts, I think 25 weeks or so, and before it was much more more sporadic!

I didn't feel my first every day until 22 weeks or more. With this one, I'm feeling her daily at 18 weeks, but only because she's kicking the crap out of my cervix. Which is not awesome, to be honest. But it is nice to know that she's in there.

Weeks 22-26 were the hardest for me. I felt a ton of little movements starting at 18 weeks, and then there would be days without it. I'm so sorry, but it sounds like it's pretty normal. I remember hitting 26 weeks, and suddenly being able to feel her every day.

I felt them sporadically for quite some time--then started feeling them daily closer to 30 weeks. :)

This is something that worried me too but i figured out that i couldn't feel him when he had his limbs facing inwards, towards my back. As he grew, it became easier to feel more movements.

I think it's totally normal not to feel regular movement that early on, but check with your doctor. I'm sure they'll reassure you all is well!

@MrsKMM: I would go a few days around then and feel no movement, it drove me NUTS!!!! The baby still has a lot of room and could be facing your back, you could have an anterior placenta like me acting as a punching bag....if your anxiety is high ask to go in to hear heart beat, I did many times always helped me! :)

It is normal not to feel consistent movements that early on. At 28 weeks or 3rd tri is when you should be feeling daily movements and do kick counts.

My midwife didn't mention anything to me about monitoring movement until 30 weeks. Before then it was definitely not an all the time thing. When I hit 30 weeks, I was told if I didn't feel anything in a few hours, to eat and drink something and focus on trying to feel movement, and if I still didn't, then to call. Suffice it to say, I've never had to call (thank goodness!) So I think it's still fine at this point for you to sometimes feel baby and sometimes not!

I have an anterior placenta and it took a while to consistently feel movement (like 25 weeks), but now at 31 I feel it almost constantly.

@MrsKMM: I didn't start feeling her daily until 26-27 weeks. Even now (32w) she'll move way more some days than others. Only once did I have so little movement that I did a kick count, she made the 10 kicks in the 2hrs but the next day she was kicking like crazy. I think it's 28w before you start to count etc.

Sometimes they are just facing the wrong way or not strong enough to feel yet.

@PawPrints: Not that I know of. I'm going back to the MFM specialist on the 27th because she was really uncooperative at the anatomy scan (they didn't get all the images they needed) so maybe I'll ask about it then. Thanks

I think we have an abnormally high level of fetal activity, as I have felt strong movement practically all day long since around 19 weeks or so. But I don't think it's that unusual to have less activity as you are. Do you have anterior placenta? I think the main thing to be concerned about is if you notice a major reduction in activity from previous levels.

I started feeling movement toward the end of 19 weeks. By 20 weeks, I could tell with certainty it was her kicking/moving. I'll be 22 weeks tomorrow. I don't feel her move every day. Sometimes I go 2-3 days without feeling anything. Is that typical? I'm currently on day 3 of not feeling anything, and it bothers me (hello, anxiety!). I also have to be laying a certain way to feel it. (As I type this I think I feel her again!!) Should I be feeling movement daily? Did you feel it daily? I worry way too much...Thanks for your input :)
