@Cherrybee: Haha-- I totally washed baby clothes while there were adult clothes sitting in the hamper!
I guess part of my problem is the corner of the living room that we have pegged as the 'baby area' still contains a TV stand that DH is in charge of selling or otherwise getting rid of. So it's hard to organize that whole area with the stand there... but really, it's mostly that there are still files and other crap back there and I can't see it when I'm lounging on the sofa, for I forget about it :)

@Foodnerd81: To be fair, I'm a little bit like that!! My DH said that he would be really mad with me if I did the baby laundry when there was grown up laundry to do so I had to do ours before hers - and I sulked!!! But things like the lounge - well it kinda is for the baby, in my mind. Like, she will be touching the sofa cushions and her precious little self will be in the room - I don't want my view of her tainted by a grubby wall in the background!!! I'm clearly losing it!!!!

@MrsLilybugg: I wish I had been a little more like you - then I'd have something to do now instead of pacing around, trying to dream up tasks to complete!! We got rid of our old, small, tumble dryer and bought a new one at about 28 weeks - and I had DH paint the utility room before putting it in there!!! I also have a large stash of non-bio washing liquid stacked up next to it!!

I get a cleaning/organizing nesting bug, but it's always for small things-- like I spent a weekend soaking all the hand me down baby clothes in Oxy Clean, washing, drying, organizing by size and labeling everything... yet we still have boxes we haven't unpacked from our move 2 months ago! Or I'll deep clean one area while there is clutter all over the living room and we haven't vacuumed in 2 weeks (and we have a dog. That sheds). I wish the cleaning instinct would go into overdrive because we desparately need it! My mom is coming up the weekend after my shower and I think she will be good about helping me with that kind of stuff, especially since we will have all that nice new baby stuff to put away. Basically if it's for the baby I want it put away and perfect right now. If it's for us, I can't be bothered even if it is sitting in the middle of the living room floor.

I feel so terrible - I have ZERO nesting instincts or desire to clean or do anything. I wonder if it will ever kick in? My grandmother suggested coming over with my mom to help me clean this weekend. I happily accepted, as I probably would feel just fine leaving things as is. It's not that our place is filthy, just.... cluttered.

I have all of Baby's clothes that I need to wash. But first we need to buy a washer/dryer for our basement. (Been doing laundry at my mom's). I feel no urgency for this. I think we'll be getting the set in two Saturdays.

We have an idea of what we want the nursery to look like, but are waiting on the futon/sofa bed before getting rid of current furniture in that room. Bed should arrive in a week?
I also need to get a hospital bag ready - 35 weeks today! That should be my main goal for this week, at least.
None of this is stressing me out. I think it's just the personality of a procrastinator? :p

Yes but my nesting instinct kicked in early, probably during the back half of my 1st trimester. LO's nursery was being used as our guest room and her closet was used for storage. The first thing I did was sell my wedding dress, which took up half the closet! Then I started getting rid of all clothes I didn't want. I also scanned and saved all paperwork and got rid of the physical papers!

@mjane: That's so weird!! Wrapping paper and ribbons is one of things I have organised in my spare room! I now have a box with sellotape and scissors, tags, wrapping paper and cards for the next six month's worth of birthdays in it. Plus, the box is labelled! Oh yeah!!

You'd think I was preparing for zombie apocalypse, not the birth of a baby!

My nesting instinct didn't really show up until the morning my water broke. Weird considering a design homes for a living.
My water broke and then I had to hang these shelves right now! And vacuum. And buy wrapping paper on clearance (early jan baby). And replace all the switch plates at our place. And make a stew. Pretty much everything but focus on my labor.

I needed to, too. I organized the wrapping paper and ribbons... No joke. Cleaned out every drawer... Took massive amounts of stuff to Goodwill. I could not sit and read for the life of me, which is fine since that's about all I can do now that I'm a milk vending machine for baby!

I've been on full nesting mode for a good few weeks now. At 33 weeks, the nursery is ready, I have bought, washed and ironed all the baby's clothes and have lovingly folded and put them away in her chest of drawers. All her T-shirts and dresses are hanging in my dining room, ready to go into the wardrobe once DH makes it up (darn flat pack furniture that's too heavy for me to lift!!).

Now I'm moving my attention onto the rest of the house! I have re-organised the spare room and sorted things into filing cabinets, storage boxes etc. I have been through my wardrobe and cleared a load of stuff out. Today, I'm washing and restuffing my sofa cushions (while I work from home).

Tomorrow, I think I might give the lounge a quick lick of paint just to freshen it up. I might wash the curtains, too.

Did you get the nesting urge? What jobs did you do around the house?

ps - people keep telling me to use this time to read novels, go out for lunch and sleep while I can - and yes, that's all well and good but this nesting is an urge... I neeeeed to do it!
