I felt pretty strongly about getting it, because there is a whooping cough outbreak at the school where I teach. My family all had it already for my niece, and dh got his a couple weeks ago. I honestly wouldn't have allowed anyone around our little guy without the vaccine because there had been a few cases in our area shortly before I gave birth and one was a four month old baby boy that almost died. Scary stuff. I had it with my pregnancy with my son, but it "expired" soon after having my son (I originally got it at 13 years old and it lasts 10 years). So, you just reminded me that I need my booster!<br /> DH got his a few days after I gave birth.<br /> My mom &amp; siblings have it because they are in school (my mom is a teacher) and my in-laws had it because they work in hospitals. We did not ask immediate family to get it since no one would be spending that much time with her, and there aren't any known outbreaks in the area.
