When we found out our LO was a girl, I was shocked! It took me a little while to get used to the idea, since I was SO sure she was going to be a boy! Now I am so glad we had a girl and if we go for #2, I am kind of hoping for another girl. I like the idea of sisters (and I'd get to use the other girl name we were considering). When I found out we were having a girl (although I already had a strong suspicion we were) I was a little bummed. A couple days later, I warmed up to the idea and now I can't ever believe I wasn't excited about a girl! I love having a daughter now and even all things pink and girly. In fact, I wouldn't mind if baby 2.0 was a girl too! It wasn't long before I realized the main reason I wanted the boy first was because that's what DH wanted, but I had secretly wanted a girl the whole time. I thought for sure I was having a girl I was soo surprised and shocked at my 20 week U/S that it was a boy and to be perfectly honest, I was a little disappointed for quite awhile. But it definitely grew on me... and all of a sudden I didn't even want a girl at all and I was RELIEVED I was having a boy. All I had to do was watch my uber-dramatic little sister start crying because she didn't get her way (she's such a diva) and realize that I truly am not ready for that drama and emotion right now! I think at this time in my life, I am more apt to handle the velocity of a little boy instead. although as it is, LO is turning out to be surprisingly mellow and calm. Anyhow, I didn't think I wanted a girl at all anymore, and wanted a boy next. But hearing my mom say how much she loves having her daughters as her best friends now made me sentimental and I know that eventually I will want a girl. I didn't care, I just wanted a baby. But I did know that if I didn't get a girl this time, I'd want one eventually. I love all things pink and girly, I love ballet and theater, and I can't wait for tea parties and dress up. I know some of these things could be done with boys too, but I just felt like I was meant to have a girl. And I did!
