I did. I had a resident that helped deliver the baby and he stitched me up while my actual OB was standing there telling him how to do it! I was not very comfortable with it.

I did -- I had residents for my anesthesia team but for my actual delivery no students or residents b/c a midwife delivered me. I wouldn't have minded if residents/studernts were with me for the delivery, though.

Yes! I delivered at Mass General and I didn't mind at all!

There were residents and students present the whole time, by the time I actually pushed him out I think there were like 8 people in the room - head OB, chief resident, gynecologist resident, nurse or two, nursing student, etc.... Haha- I could've cared less after pushing for so long!

After i delivered the placenta they asked if I minded if they conducted a little class on the other side of the curtain with the placenta - it was very bizarre laying there holding my brand new son, getting stiches and hearing them discuss my placenta as a tree of life and answering questions.

The head OB also was teaching the resident while stitching me up!

The hospital I gave birth in is not a teaching hospital... but the nurse did ask if I a student in the nursing program from San Diego State be present as well (in the delivery room.)
Honestly, she was like an angel!

Nope. Our hospital is a place seasoned nurses and docs go after they have worked for a long time and want to move up.

Yep. I had a male nursing student in the room while I was pushing and when they did my forceps delivery. I actually didn't really even notice he was there. They did ask me first.

Not really, mine was not a teaching hospital, but my OB always has medical students doing rotations at the practice. I've always enjoyed talking with them, and one was present at my birth and recovery too.

I teach in another field and have my students learning from patients in real life situations, so I have always thought it was only fair to allow students present at my appointments and procedures.

Yes. I was admitted around 4am and between 6-9 especially residents were coming in and out. I had one being instructed on giving cervical checks (lotsa hands up there) and another broke my water.

Yes - a nurse came in towards the middle part of my labor and asked if a student could come into my room and stay. I'm still thankful for her, as she massaged my lower back for a good 2 hours so I could lean on my husband for support during contractions. She also held up one of my legs when I pushed. A resident also came in to watch the birth but I don't remember much about her haha.

Yes....the Ob I had was actually a resident and the 2 nurses I had both had students with them....for delivery: the resident left (to tend to something else) and my actual Ob came in...the nursing students stayed.

The hospital associated with the medical school around me doesn't deliver babies, so they split between the two other hospitals that do deliver.

I had a resident that came in and actually delivered DD #2 (just the catching part and that was fine with me. He did a great job and it was kind of fun to give him a hard time.

I am a nurse and wouldn't mind if they ask to have a nursing student in on the delivery. Everyone has to start somewhere and I honestly could have cared less who was in the room once in the middle of labor.
