My husband went to Hebrew school before he was Bar Mitzvah'd. It's a requirement and he hated every second. I am not Jewish so I never did anything like that. It will be up to our kids if they choose to go that route.

I was in French immersion from JK to grade 1. Then we moved and French immersion wasn't offered.

I attended a semester of French school after graduating high school and before college

No, and I'm so jealous of those who did! I grew up in a small Midwestern town so there were absolutely no resources/options for anything but English. I'm glad my children will have the opportunity though!

Korean school each Saturday morning from 9-12 am for years! Glad I learned basic Korean but it certainly wasn't rigorous. I kind of resented it because on Sundays we had to wake up early for church so there was never a day we could relax at home or sleep in in the mornings.

I went to Hebrew day school for 4th-6th and hated every second of it. Half the day was spent on typical subjects and then after lunch was Hebrew, Torah, etc. It completely turned me off the the religion and culture. It totally backfired on my parents too because I refused to have a bat mitzvah as a result.

Yes, French Immersion (total immersion in elementary, with more English added in gradually until high school). Plus Cantonese classes on Saturdays for 4 or 5 years.

yep. I went to greek school (church community run) from ages 4 - 8, and then I went to an independent primary/high school that was greek orthodox, so greek classes til final year of high school. I'd never put my kids through that, I don't care if they don't learn the language, it drained my life.

I was in French Immersion school K-12. It's pretty much a necessity to be able to speak both languages in the community I live in

I went to Korean school when I was in elementary school for a year or so. I'm so glad I did because that's how I learned to read and write, a skill that I still use today (Korean is easy! Plus I could already speak it).

Charlie and Olive started Korean school earlier this year.

What about you? Would you send your kids?
