It was planned and I found out about it a week before. She hosted it as a diaper freeze party. If you chose to bring a frozen meal or package of diapers you would be entered into a drawing for a prize. She had 4 $10 prizes. For my third I did have a shower, because a friend offered to throw it (I felt weird about it the whole time), but none of the people who came to that shower knew me when I had my first. I think different areas of the country have different rules/expectations.
