5 of us take a trip over the long weekend in January every year. It's a blast! So far none of us have kids, but 2 of us are TTC so we'll see what happens. I would definitely still go as long as LO was not an infant/not nursing.

I'm the first to turn 30 (October) and then everyone else is far behind, so we probably will not take a trip as a birthday thing.

Absolutely! I would do a weekend with the girls in a heartbeat once I'm done nursing.

Totally doable. That is not how I celebrated turning 30. My close friends (people who I would use PTO for) are not friends with each other, so I don't see this really ever happening. Maybe me tagging along with a larger group of their pals.

we did a girls trip with 9 of us for our 30 birthdays. we went to miami, and it was great timing bc 2 of the girls were pregnant. don't think we could do it now since some of our group has kids.

I'll be at a girl's trip in October for a long weekend. I'll be about three hours away. DH is taking care of LO while i'm gone. I am really excited for it!

I think it depends on you and your DH. Personally we don't have a interest in vacationing wo LO at this point. At most a overnight trip.

I'm actually planning a trip for our 30th (in 2 years pending pregnancies.) We are hoping to do a long weekend in Mexico to get away from life and just relax and enjoy each other's company sans husbands/kids!

I took a mom-cation to Sonoma with my BFFs from college when DD was 9 months old. She was on formula so it made things much easier. Only thing I've done with DS was go to a destination wedding for 2.5 days, and I was able to pump and freeze my milk and bring it back.

Since I work in education, I have a lot of teacher friends, many of whom have husbands and LOs, and they are still game for bachelorette weekends away, trips to Mexico, etc.....as long as they have advanced notice.

But teachers get more time off than average.

I wouldn't want to do it now that I have LO. I don't even know that I'd want to do it without DH..... I know I'd feel left out and jealous if he went on a fun trip without me.

I traveled some with my girlfriends before getting married and having a baby. My friends still travel together on girl trips, but they don't have kids. I get jealous when I know they're going, but all they do is drink on their trips and I'm not into that anyway.

I think it probably depends on how long the trip is, whether you can afford it or not, and whether your husband (and baby) can manage without you!

I just did a weekend away from Hubs and the baby for a bachelorette party, and that was totally doable and fun. And Hubs and I are going away from the baby for two nights in a month, which should be doable and fun. But anything longer would probably be too hard. Hubs and I share daycare drop-off/pick-up duties, so it would be hard to ask him to handle it by himself. Plus I would need a major stash of breast milk to leave him if I was going to be gone too long since Xander goes through 30 oz a day! Plus I'd have to pump while gone (which I had to do this past weekend and will have to do next month), so it depends on where we were going and what we were doing for whether it would be doable for me.

I would do it in a heartbeat (IF I wasn't nursing)! But only with people I was still close to and wanted to spend time with. :) My husband and I give each other a lot of space in this department and he would probably urge me to go.

We recently went on a group trip to Cancun so all of us could celebrate "ringing in our 30s", and we brought the kids, but none of our other friends have kids yet. We considered leaving the kids, but 1) it's a lot for my MIL to handle an infant and a toddler by herself 2) I am still nursing J and didn't want to have to pump and lug all that milk back.

I wouldn't do a whole week because I have limited vacation time at work and wouldn't want to spend half of it on friends, but I'd totally do a weekend. DH is more than capable of managing LO on his own, plus my parents would totally help out. DH went on a 4-day weekend camping trip with the guys when LO was little- my mom helped me out and it was fine and I'm glad he went.

A few years ago, one of my high school friends suggested that we get together at 30 and go on a trip without the kids and husbands (if we had them). Back then, I said maybe because I wasn't sure how I could do it as a mom plus finances and all.

Did you do anything like that?

Now (pre-baby), I could do it but I've definitely grown apart from these high school friends and I don't really want to go on vacation with them. Anyway, I don't think it will happen but I could see myself going with a different group.

Is a vacation without baby and husband doable? At 30, 35 or 40?
