I went in at 6 pm on Friday and was already dilated to a 6, and I didn't have him til 5:15 the next morning...but I was in complete agony the whole time, so I wouldn't call it down time.

Yeah, I was induced and labored for 20hrs before my c-section so it did drag for a while!

Technically yes, but it didn't feel like it. We arrived around 4:30am, and after we went through triage we napped for several hours until it was time to push.

Yup! I was induced though. Was admitted to the hospital at 7am, start and stopped pitocin shortly after. Had my water broken at 11:30am and restarted induction and had DS by 6:19pm.

I was at the hospital for 9 hours before Xander was born, but it didn't feel like I had much down time! I know I spent 3 hours in the jacuzzi, but that time seemed to fly by!! And all the times around were spent getting checked in, getting blood drawn, getting IVs, blah blah blah!

Nope. I went in when the OB told me to (when I was in the worst pain of my life). Got there at 5, was dilated to 5. Had her at Noon, was in labor the whole time.

At first, yes. Water broke at 630am and we were at the hospital by 7. The first few hours I just laid there watching HGTV until the contractions kicked in. After that it just felt like an eternity! LO wasn't born til 11:47pm, and it felt like forever...but also definitely wasn't down time!

Lots of time.
I was in the hospital for monitoring/ultrasounds twice a week for three weeks leading up to induction and then got really sick after giving birth and spent another 5 days there.

Not really. I had a section because she was breech. We got to the hospital at 7:30 ish and LO was born at 10:52. Once they got my Iv's in, it was just a waiting game for the operating room to open up. They were a little behind schedule because of an emergency section. So, some down time, but not a lot.

Lots of downtime. I came in at around 7 am because of bleeding, contractions started naturally a few hours later. Waited in the L&D suite to progress... walked around, visited with friends. They broke my water in the afternoon, and I got my epidural (which only worked a little). Waited and waited through the early evening. Things went at lightning speed once they started me on a low dose of pitocin! But from 7 am to about 6 pm it was very relaxed and non eventful.

Yes, because I went in with suspected cord issues/low fluid issues, then I was induced the next morning, then it too 36 hours. 48 hours from check in to baby out. Then she was taken straight to the nicu, so I was just hanging around waiting for her to get better. It was an entire week of downtime.

A little bit but not much. With my first we had 8ish hours of downtime between when I checked in (after my water had broken at home) and when they started Pitocin since contractions weren't starting on their own.

With my second I was only in the hospital for 7 hours before DD was born and most of it was pretty busy.

Yep, lots of down time and I loved it! We went in when I was finding the contractions pretty unbearable (I was only 3 cm at the time as I found out), waited two hours to get set up in our room, which totally sucked, and then got the epi. Once the epi was in, I napped, read a book, chatted with DH and the midwife, and watched tv, until the midwife said I was at 10 cm and could push this baby out. An hour of pushing later and she was born, exactly 8 hours after the epi.

Once she was born, I had lots of down time as well as she slept a lot and fed pretty easily. We didn't have too many interruptions from midwives so all in all, it was a pretty chilled out experience!

I had downtime with both. DD was induced, and once I got the epidural I just sorta napped and waited. DS was a c-section, but since my water broke unexpectedly, we had to wait for the OR to get ready, them to do the blood test stuff, and the doctor to get there.
