It was the first grand baby on both sides so both sets of grandparents were waiting for us at the hospital. It was overwhelming because they were waiting for us in our family center recovery room before we were even release from L/D. We had everyone in there when the nurses came in to teach us how to bathe LO and go over a bunch of paperwork. So I wish we would have told people to hold out until we said to Come in. </p> <p>Once we were home, we still had so much family in from out of town. So we actually traveled to a lot of houses and hotels to visit people - my husbands family isn't good at understanding that they need to not be an inconvenience. Again, a huge mistake. It was crazy!! DS was in the NICU that first night so our hospital visitors didn't get to see him except through the glass window. </p> <p>We'll see how things go with DD next month. As soon as one left the hospital, another batch would arrive. I didn't mind too much because the days can get long at the hospital (I had a c/s so I was there for four days). We didn't have nearly as many visitors with my second To be honest though, I much prefer having the visitors come to the hospital than my house. All the grandparents came BOTH days, which in hindsight was unnecessary, and prevented us from properly resting. I will definitely limit the amount of visitation this time around, especially since I'll most likely have a C-section due to a previa. No one held held the baby bc they've been "sniffly" and unsure of germs, but the visitors we had today brought their kids and one of them had a horrible phlegmy cough twice :( :( I was cringing inside and kept trying to move him away. The second day we had 5 and a couple were back to back which was fun but exhausting.</p> <p>If there is a next time, I'd still like visitors but would space it out better. For those first sleep deprived few weeks, I'd probably try to say no more than I did. This next time I think I won't let anybody come. My parents will be home with B and I think it would be too hard for him to come visit and then leave without us. It was one after another from when she was born for a good few weeks. With LO2 we had no visitors in the hospital, and very few at home. We learned our lesson the first time...rest, bonding and adapting to a family of 4 was most important. </p>
