Thanks for all the stories and excitement! The real contraction-y cramps stopped after a couple hours and were replaced by period like cramps for the rest of the night and now. So not sure whats going on but it doesn't seem like labor.... maybe super early labor?

It's weird, when it all started last night I was terrified, but after a few hours when it seemed to be nothing I was a little disappointed :/

I experienced a lot of BH throughout my pregnancy and real contractions in the weeks leading up to my DD. One night I woke up to another set of contractions and woke up DH. I wasn't sure and didn't think much of it. DH insisted that we get ready and head to the hospital. Contractions came every 5 minutes but not very intense, just the usual period cramps. I insisted on taking my time and getting LO1 prepared to stay with my sister. My first labor was long (27+ hours from start to finish). We arrived at the hospital an hour later. I was already 8cm (I think) dilated! My labor from start to finish lasted 4 hours. With LO1 I pushed for almost 3 hours, and LO2 came in about 15 minutes.

Y water broke with my first. For my second, I was crampy for a while, but then couldn't sleep through them. I timed them and they were 2 min apart and getting stronger, so we went in.

Last time I didn't have contractions or anything, my water just broke. So, this time I'm curious how things will play out because I've definitely been having contractions, but nothing regular. Excited for you! :)

Similar story to prettylizy's. Though my water broke before contractions and I eventually had to be induced to start labor with my first, with my second it went from "Hmmm could this be labor" to "OMG this baby might be born in the taxi" reeeeaaaaalllllly quickly. From first realizing this was the real deal to having a baby in my arms was under 3 hours total, MAX. I walked into the hospital and had a baby in my arms less than 40 minutes later. I was in shock.

I was in complete denial with my second that I was actually in labour and waited as long as possible. I was 8-9cms and just about ready to start pushing when I got to the hospital. She was born 40mins after our arrival! With my first my water broke before contractions and it was close to 50 hours from rupture to baby.

My water broke with lo1 so I went right to hospital. With dd I thought I was maybe in labor, but it didn't feel anything like I was having contractions. By the time I had my first big contraction, they were 90-60 seconds apart for about 5 minutes and then tidal wave contractions.

@Mrs. Bee: They started some time in the night and I was able to sleep through them - finally woke me up at 7am and went to the hospital at 1/2pm and was at a 4. They were glad I came in when I did. Then delivered 1am the next day.

my contractions were very regular right away with #2 (as they were with #1). but i had to pick up charlie at daycare which was a block away, and when i was holding my stomach one of the parents asked me if i was ok. i told him, "i'm in labor!"

mr. bee took an hour to get home and by the time i got to the hospital about an hour and a half after my contractions started, i couldn't even walk! glad i went right away, but it really is different for everyone.

what was your first labor like?

I never hit that pattern with either of mine. I really had no idea when to go in for #2 since my water never broke. I went in for high blood pressure and they kept me for #2.

Good luck, hope this is the real deal for you!

Labour went from "oh yeah, I got this", to "we're going to have the baby this hour" verrrry quickly with #2, so going became not optional so fast compared to #1!

My doctor told me to come when I started feeling uncomfortable, because it could go much faster the second time and she would rather I get there and walk around for a couple hours than to need to push while I'm in the elevator on the way up to be admitted. Keep us updated!

I've had some contraction-y cramps for the last hour, and I'm not sure how serious to take it... (Due on Thursday..)

With your second, did you just go by the 5-1-1/4-1-1 rule or what? Were you worried about showing up at the hospital too early (like most FTM are?)
