Nope. A friend offered to throw me one, by DH was adamant that we did not have a second shower.

I don't think I'll have one for my second. No one has offered to throw a shower, and I don't mind since I have everything I need. I do feel bad for LO2. He doesn't get very much attention compared to LO1.

I've always understood that showers are to welcome the mom into motherhood by gifting things she'd need in her new role. Showers for a second baby would be redundant and gift grabby in my circle.
That said I'd be really bummed if my friends didn't bring little gifts after future LO #2 is born. But I'd feel really awkward receiving gifts at a shower.

@artbee: I actually found out about it by accident! Towards the end of the pregnancy I got a little sad that we had such a big, celebratory fun shower for our first and weren't celebrating the second. We were so busy with our young toddler that we were barely preparing at all. It was nice to have neutral things (we were team green with the first) and it was convenient, but it was kinda sad not to be shopping for things and excited. I felt sad for the baby and myself, especially because the pregnancy was not a comfortable one for me. So one night I asked Wagon Sr. to quietly ask my friend to put together a little lunch with some girls, nothing big, just to have something to commemorate the pregnancy. He got all befuddled and then was like "...why do you have to ruin every surprise??!?!?!" Haha! She threw me a GORGEOUS tea party with all these sandwiches, pastries, etc. all handmade and everything. I absolutely loved it. I'm blessed!!!

I think every baby should be celebrated and love showers for all the babies!

I wanted to throw one for my sister but she turned me down..

Oh, and I don't have a second baby, so no experience personally. However my mom had 6 children and she had friends throw a shower for each and every one!

@mrs. wagon: I personally don't think they're a no no. It's just something I've heard from others and since I don't really need one I'm ok skipping it. How sweet of your friend to throw you a surprise shower!

I didn't know showers for any children past the first were a no-no! I've only been to a few but it's usually a much smaller celebration with some girlfriends for brunch or something like that. I didn't think I was going to have one (don't have a sister or SIL around to throw me one, and I wasn't going to ask friends to do it for me) but then a friend threw me a surprise one. Since we were having a girl (the first was a boy) I got tons of adorable baby girl clothes. I loved it!

No experience for me, but I threw my neighbor a shower for her 2nd. I think that any pregnancy is worth celebrating, even if there are not gifts involved. I dont see that as a requirement.

I'm not planning on it. In my culture it's kind of a no no. I don't feel like I need one..... we do have some things to buy since we are team green and need gender neutral at least in little sizes, but for the most part we are all set. The big things we need are furniture and maybe a double stroller, and those aren't things that people at a shower would get us anyway.
