It was a surprise until like 20 minutes before. My best friend (she was older and had a car) took me to the mall to get me out of the house while the guests arrived. Instead of just going home she kept driving around my neighborhood and making weird, vague cell phone calls. She wasn't great at secrets. </p> <p>And, one of my friends invited the guy I really liked at the time, and he showed up halfway through with flowers. As soon as he walked in my best friend's dad squirted almost an entire jar of mustard on him.
