Every summer my dad's twin and his family would stay for the summer too. I loved it so much, I went to college there and it is where my husband and I met! </p> <p>My husband's family went to Kiawah, South Carolina for a week each summer. So we would go there 3 times every summer. We also go to Disneyland every year! Actually now we've started going twice a year, once with family and once with friends. We stopped going to that house when I was in HS due to my grandma's passing and some issues between my dad and his siblings, but we always still went down the shore. We then started going to RI and rented a house for 2 weeks every summer there. We also always spent at least a week on the Cape in MA with my mom's best friend and/or my Aunt. During the winter my dad would cook a big pot of chili over a campfire...man I loved those weekends. </p> <p>DH and his family used to go to a beach in NC every other summer. Last year his grandmother decided that we should all go again (because she's convinced she's going to die soon), so we did...and had such a blast with the kids that the rest of the family has decided we should make the trip every summer until she does pass, and then we'll probably stretch it out to every other summer. Maybe. We'll see. All of my mom's family comes, so there are 25-35 of us on a given trip, all in a single ranch. Lots of food, people, loudness, etc, but I love it. We pretty much live on our beach--we're the only house on the lake with a private beach. When we moved to Texas, they followed, and our 'regular' spot became San Antonio. We would spend three weeks each summer there, and spend the days waterskiing, fishing, hunting for frogs, canoeing, swimming, reading, playing board games, etc. We went each summer until I was 12 or so, once we were in middle/high school there were too many activities to plan around. The last time I was there was in 2004 for my grandma's 90th birthday party. We would go crabbing on the dock... my brother and I would each have one net and we would work together to catch crabs. It was pretty awesome. We eventually stopped going on vacations after fifth grade though, when we ran into financial difficulties.</p> <p>Going to the same vacation spot together as a family was a great memory, and makes me think that maybe we need to pick a family vacation spot nearby where we can regularly go with the kids.</p> <p>Did you have a vacation spot you went to regularly as a family? </p>
