M was super easy as a newborn! BUT as soon as he completed his 3rd month, well, it was an entirely different story. He is so defiant! He's 9 months now and his personality is getting stronger and stronger. He's still a very good baby but just not as easy and SO and I were spoiled by those first 3 months of bliss! Sigh.

Easy as a dream. We were doing things out in the world at 1 week old. She nursed for hours and hours a day, and didn't sleep much during the day. But she was always happy.

Not easy. We never went out, we hardly had time to brush our teeth regularly :(

She developed a milk protein intolerance at 6 months and I aged 10 yrs within that single month! Hats off to those that had to deal with that at the NB stage. I do not know how you did it!

G was a really easy going baby, easy going toddler, and has been a pretty easy to raise kid.

P had tongue tie & protein intolerances so the first 5 months were incredibly difficult

Our baby was very easygoing in that she didn't cry a lot and almost never for extended periods of time. I still had a really hard time with her at the beginning though b/c I wasn't able to produce enough milk for her, she never napped predictably, and I experienced PPD. So even though she was an "easy" baby, we weren't leaving the house and just rolling with it the way some other moms do.

@googly-eyes: We tried a bunch of formulas over the first 2 weeks too! The hospital gave us Enfamil Newborn and Infant, and we tried Similac Advance ready to feeds too. None of them made her terribly fussy, but Gentlease was the only one that didn't cause a lot spit up, so we stuck with it. I'm counting my blessings that it was so easy to land on one that works so well for us!

@googly-eyes: Sadie was never EBF. I tried to pump for a week or two, but it didn't work out. Even when I was pumping she was only getting 50-75ml of breast milk per day. I think since we did formula from the start it made feedings a lot easier - we had a routine from the beginning. She always ate the same number of ounces at each feeding until she had a growth spurt & we'd up to the next ounce marker. She ate every 2.5 hours as a newborn with a short awake period & nap in between - no snacking like with BFing. Thankfully, Gentlease and anti-colic bottles kept any gas issues away for us!

@photojane: I guess in some ways it does. Maybe it was the combo feeding/pumping and the different time periods it took her to digest things but lo's feedings were still totally erratic for the first....2 months? I could measure how much she ate but it was always unpredictable how much she would need. Plus the gas caused by some formulas/bottles can make the fussiness worse. However maybe with the knowledge I have now, I know the better brands, etc., if I choose to ff again, so maybe I'll notice more patterns.

@googly-eyes: I just mean that FFing made going out & sleeping easier for us! She always had a pretty chilled out disposition, but FFing made things even easier for us - didn't have allergies or the constant feedings to deal with. I knew exactly how much she would eat & when, so that made going out easy from pretty early on.

I voted easygoing, but LO definitely was a colic / acid reflux baby. He was easy in terms of being able to nap anywhere (we could nap for a whole 2 hours in the stroller when we were in the mall, or a noisy restaurant!), but he was quite unpredictable after feedings.

ETA: How do you define "Newborn"? Because thinking back I don't think we went anywhere at the newborn stage... (a few weeks old) other than the pediatrician office, friend gatherings and some mommy-and-me groups.

So easy. She's a doll. Makes me incredibly nervous to have a second. They both can't be so easy, right? Although, I do think the FFing plays into it - I can feed her anywhere with no issue, predictable feeding schedule, and STTN/no night feedings from early on.
