I am so so thankful that I didn't have one or any tearing. I think it made a huge difference to how quick and easy my recovery was. I just had a couple of grazes. They burned a little bit when I peed for a couple of days and that was it. Knock wood for next time!

Nope. You know, when my mom gave birth to my brother and me, it was standard practice for the doctors to give them! Gah!

I had some minor tearing. I think the itching was worse than the pain when it was healing.

I did. I'm actually really happy about it.

I got numbed right before he cut, and I honestly didn't feel it happen....I could just hear the scissors. My baby flew out on the next push (after he seemed to be stuck for sooooooo long). And I had no issues with healing. I was really good about using my peri bottle and doing lots of sitz baths though.

Still, I will not google image search that!

Doc said he did it because I was starting to tear.

I did. I delivered a 10lb 8oz baby via forceps. Any time they have to assist a birth with forceps or vacuum, you pretty much get one.

Franken-vag is a pretty good description. lol! Honestly though, it wasn't that bad and it healed up nicely. The scar is pretty small now only 3 months later.

i didn't. and even with an 8 lb 5 oz baby i didn't tear! with baby 2 also no episiotomy, but a very minor 2nd degree tear that felt no worse healing than the first time through!

With DD #1 I had an episiotomy and still tore. I felt a lot like Frankenstein down there for a while.
