Yes, I didn't have any interventions. I was lucky and had a pretty swift labor. My recovery was quick and my milk game in by day 2.

@mrsjyw: I had the low intervention birth with my DS that I wanted. I would have had a med free birth if my midwife realized how quickly I progressed from 4 cm-9cm and checked me before administering 1 dose of IV pain med. I pushed that baby out within the hour and as a result had to have a pediatrician present for delivery. My post partum recovery was amazing and breastfeeding has been an adventure so far

I had no pain meds but I had pitocin with both births. Recovery was a breeze and way way easier than I expected. My dh loves to tell everyone I picked up LO1 (1.5 years 28lbs) on the way From the birthing suite to the recovery room, I thought nothing of it but apparently the nurses were shocked :silly: My milk came in about the same and with more engorgement this time but I also have a better supply.

I had an epidural, my milk came in fine, and I had a really easy recovery. My swelling from pregnancy was completely gone the next day, I was walking laps around the hospital, and I felt much better than during pregnancy. On day three I went for a long walk with no problems. By two weeks I felt as good as new (except for nipple pain from nursing).

I labored without pain meds for over 36 hours (it was an induction due to pre-e and I was GBS positive so I had antibiotics, magnesium, fluids, cytotex and pitocin). I ended up needing a c-section though so clearly ended up with pain meds.

I did with only GBS antibiotics. I've forgotten the experience... Now I feel like BFing is the hardest thing I've ever done lol! That being said, and with nothing to compare it to, aside from badly tearing, my recovery was fairly easy. I had her late afternoon on a Thursday and was mobile by Sunday or so?

I just did, on Sunday, with my second child. I got the unmedicated waterbirth of my dreams, and I am still processing the experience. It for sure did not make me feel beautiful, or powerful, or any of those things. It felt like being marched up a hill at gunpoint. I'm glad that I did it, but if I were to do it again (NOPE), I think I might opt for an epidural.

Maybe with time I'll feel differently about it, but right now I am feeling a lot of mixed feelings. Proud of myself, I guess. But my labor went very fast - I went from a 4 to pushing 90 minutes later, so that really helped.

my labor was similar to @Mrs. Oatmeal: 30 something hours before i got an epidural, I believe I would've had a c-section if I didn't get the epidural (baby was sunny side up and I wasn't dilating. Experience after the epidural was wonderful! Beforehand it was just exhausting (back labor) but not excruciating.

I ad medicated births both times. My second one was oh so easy thanks to an epidural that actually worked properly. I still found it super easy to bounce back (I think I was still peeing myself by this time after DD1!) and milk came in sooner the second time too.

I had an epidural (and stadol prior to that) and had no issues related to the epi as far as I could tell. I was induced at 41+1 and start-to-finish the whole process took about 12 hours. I got the epidural about 6 hours in, but it wore off right at the end (pushed for 2 hours). My recovery was mostly fine save for dealing with a fractured tailbone thanks to LO's gigantic head! No issues at all with my milk coming in or supply/breastfeeding issues in general.

I experienced 26 hours of unmedicated back labor and dilated to 9cm but the little bugger wouldn't turn around & my contractions were weakening. So I needed pitocin and knew I couldn't handle it with an epidural at that point. So I did what I had to do. Not my ideal birth but my doula believes it saved me from a c section!

I had no issues from the epidural. Milk came in by day 4 & very slight swelling from the fluids which went away within 2 days after birth.

I had an epi, and though I really didn't want it and cried making the decision to get it, I'm so glad I did. It took the edge off so I could get 3 hours of sleep. I think if I hadn't gotten that little "nap," I would not have had the energy to push for 3 hours and delivery D vaginally. As it was, he needed vacuum assist to drop through the canal, but I pushed him out on my own. Recovery was fine (excoriation from a tear, completely not related to medications) and my milk came in well. I'd like to go unmedicated with this one, but am completely open to the idea of an epi if I need it!

I had an unmedicated birth with LO2. She arrived so fast that there was no time. When the anesthesiologist finally arrived, I was already at 10 cm. The recovery was fast. That said, I had an epi with LO1 and the recovery was only slightly longer. My milk came in around the same time both times.

I had an epidural and pitocin for my first, for the last 12 hours of a 28 hour labor. For the second, I was ready to deliver when I got to the hospital and so just had antibiotics for strep b. I had tearing for both but basically felt myself again within a week.

My midwife commented that meds the first time and not the second was the way to do it :)

I didn't have an epidural or any meds for #1. I am surprised about all the positivity here surrounding med free birth. I am not sure I ever want to do that again even though I chose to do it once before. I had mild PTSD afterwards. Sure my recovery was easier, but the pain was indescribable. I did have a precipitous labor so maybe that contributed to the pain level. I do get sad when people express disappointment that they weren't able to have a "natural birth". Frankly, I'm not sure why our culture is obsessed with the birth experience. I want to tell them unmedicated birth is not all it's cracked up to be!!

I had an epi with DD1 and everything was fine. No pain meds with DD2, I also had no chance to change my mind and that was great too. I recommend doing both lol my favorite part of going med free was not having to wait to walk/shower! Also feeling her come out was pretty cool. I much prefer an epidural for the after birth/stitching.

For LO1 I had 51 hours of labor. I got a shot go slow down contractions right before pushing. It did nothing for pain but it helped baby's heart rate during the final hour of labor.

For LO2 I was contemplating an epidural and when I got to the hospital I had decided to get one. Then I got to Triage and they said I was 10cm and could push as soon as I got on the delivery bed. So another unmedicated birth for me.

Only side effect was swelling from IVs.

Nope, with DS I had a csection and with DD I had an epidural. I would have liked to try natural but my midwife basically said I needed to get an epidural because I was trying for a vbac. In the end, I'm glad I did because I don't think I could have naturally labored while stuck in bed with monitors all over me!

I attempted a med-free birth. The first 40 hours were unmedicated, then I stopped progressing. I got an epidural placed at 1am, was at 10cm by 2am, and K was born at 2:26. I think, had I not gone for the epidural, there would have been a whole lot more interventions needed.
Recovery was awful, but it's because my stitches got infected. I had no issue with milk coming in!
