I went at 7:10 with LO1 to drop off my absentee ballot. There were 4 people in line which is the most I've seen. I feel so bad for and proud of those that have to deal with long lines.

Took an early lunch, only 2 other people in line. No campaigners/protesters or any voting problems.

Nope! I live in NYC and went around 8 am - I expected it to be awful, but somehow I lucked out. I knew my electoral district, so I didn't have to wait in the "main" line to find out, then there just happened to be no one waiting at the table for my district. And since I had my own pen, I didn't need to wait for a voting booth - just did my ballot, scanned it, and was on my way. Really a pleasant surprise!

This morning the line was insane, but it surprisingly wasn't about a half hour ago!

Oh, I did read that a precinct location across the street was using SHARPIES and the machine couldn't read the ballots and they had to be redone....

@fancyfunction: no stickers at my location either. Bummer.

@Mrs. Pen: this was my first time voting not in a major city (NYC and Boston). Was very pleased with how cordial it was.

Not really i went in super early. I was pulled out of the line briefly because one of the workers didnt understand when I explained how my drivers license didnt have my most current address and thats why I had brought my passport along. That was cleared up quickly and I was able to vote

I didn't but a couple of guys in the line next to me were wearing campaign hats and a shirt and asked by the poll workers to remove them- they refused. They were pulled out of line and the person was trying to explain how they weren't allowed to wear that stuff within 75ft and they weren't having it. One guy kept trying to sneak back in line. I finished voting before it was resolved so I don't know if they eventually took off their hats in order to vote or not.

I went at 7:45am and there was no line!
I also live in a smaller suburb. I was voter number 149 at my precinct :)

@Foodnerd81: I live in a firmly blue state as well, however in my town and those nearby, they always come in red. I'm outside the major suburbs, though.

No, not really. I was in line a half hour before the polls opened this morning (I was #56), and it was 30 degrees out, so that was lame (only because I had the baby with me). Once the polls opened I only waited 15 minutes to vote.

Nope! Just some lines, but lots of polling places here so it wasn't bad. I'm shocked reading that some people had to stand in line for hours for early voting... though I wonder if that's because there are usually much fewer polling places open before Election Day?

I waited in line for about 30 minutes -- longest line I've ever seen at my polling place! My DH is a lawyer and he's doing "election protection" today; I'm interested to see if he encounters any voters having problems.

Painless and quick...my old polling location was not so painless - lots of aggressive campaigners at the 100 foot line!

A co-worker got a call from his Mom/Dad in PA - guess they are having some bigger issues there...

I did not! We live in a pretty small suburb now and I went midday, so I was in and out in minutes (minus the old ladies saying hello to my kids). Respectful people were holding signs near the entrance to the parking lot but that was it, and there was a police officer there inguess to make sure everyone obeyed all the rules.

Last time I had to wait outside in the cold for an hour, but I lived in the city in I guess a popular precinct! I have never experienced any kind of intimidation, but have also always lived in firmly blue states.
