I had a couple of extra days left after that, but I was able to choose whether or not I wanted to use them for the leave I took after ST disability expired.<br /> That's sucky that you have to use all of your time for mat leave. Why does it matter if they pay you during leave or later on when you come back? I saved up a whole bunch while pregnant. I barely took a "pregnant" day while pregnant. During my maternity leave, I used the saved bank and still accumulated time for when I got back. I was relieved to have my final month of maternity leave paid for because of no vacations. </p> <p>I'm working on saving up hours now for a future pregnancy. I wanted to have the hours to use later on for holiday travel and daycare illnesses. Accounting screwed up and paid me anyway. Since DD was born in January, and my company's policy was that you could only use the vacation you had accrued on your maternity leave. I didn't use any of it when I was on maternity leave, so I still had 3 weeks of vacation to use later that year. </p> <p>With my new company, they give it to you all at once, so I'll have to use all of it on maternity leave (if I want to get any paid leave), and that leaves me with zero vacation time for the rest of the year :-( </p>
