It looks like a little raised bump that's gotten a little smaller over the years. We are vaccinating. My understanding is that you can only get shingles once you've had the chicken pox, so if it is possible for my son to avoid both I would like him to. We ended up all camping out in the lounge room for the week, watching films. My mother ended up in hospital though, after she got chicken pox on her lungs. I'm not sure if I want her to get it if she is going to end like so many other children and catch it anyway. But up until the last couple years it was always "if you've had it then your body has immunity to it". I was VERY upset when they made me get it for daycare. It was either get it, or don't get into daycare, which I had to have at the time. I would much rather my children get the pox when they are little and then never have to worry about it again! I'm not big on vaccines like that, including flu. I had chicken pox when I was 9, and I still have scars on my scalp from it (thankfully hidden by hair!). My siblings and I got sent to play with another family when my mum heard that they had chicken pox. Depending on what country we're in we may or may not vaccinate for this disease. For me, it is one of the "optional" ones, like the flu shot. I'm haven't decided about the vaccine yet. The vaccination schedule and vaccinations given are a little different here in Japan, I've heard.
