@yoursilverlining: @jessiejo17: I had failed anesthesia for my last C-section. My OB and the chief of anesthesia think it will be better for me to go under next time since I've had 3 surgeries in my life with the same outcome with local anesthesia. I'm totally scared about General Anesthesia but I guess it would be better than screaming and crying during my next C-section.

My hospital said the same thing as @yoursilverlining, they only administer general anesthesia if it's a TRUE emergency and they need to get baby out as soon as possible for the safety of baby or mom's life and there is no time to administer a spinal. Very rarely does this happen.

No; the anesthesiologist specifically said he only administers general anesthesia in emergency cases where the spinal did not take (or other emergency reasons of which I wasn't at issue for). I had to sign a separate release for the possibility of general anesthestic because they administer it so rarely and its used as a last resort.

As it was, I had a spinal and I could feel NOTHING during the c-section, but within under 2 hours of the end of the section, had total feeling restored to my lower body.

Did you have general anesthesia for your C-section? How soon after the surgery did you wake up?
