I went to a fancy prep school on scholarship and a lot of the faculty couldn't be bothered to help me catch up to my classmates who had been in good schools their entire lives (I had never written a paper and was actually told as a freshman that it was probably too late for me to become a good writer). I loved the librarian and the head of maintenance.
