I am the poster child for avoiding exercise and healthy food, and I had two very straightforward and easy L&Ds.

I'm very active (physically demanding job), but did not work out during my first. I jogged up until 32 weeks with my second. I ate whatever I wanted and did not focus on healthy food since I was nauseous all the time. Both labors were uncomplicated and under 8 hours.

I exercised regularly, ate well and had an uncomplicated pregnancy. LO was sunny side up so our issue at birth was the 3 hours of pushing to get him out, but I felt I was only able to do it because I was in decent shape.

I ate pretty healthy during pregnancy, ran my whole pregnancy, and did Zumba and prenatal yoga. I labored for a whole day at home, then 16 hours at the hospital, and pushed for an hour. My recovery was easy.

I was pretty healthy. Only gained 29.5 lbs, played tennis the entire pregnancy multiple days a week, was playing pool volleyball the day before we went to the hospital, etc.

I developed pre-e at 37 weeks and had a long (and ultimately failed) induction that resulted in a c-section. But my recovery was an absolute breeze!

My first pregnancy, I was somewhere in between. Tried to eat fairly healthy and work-out, but kind of fell off the bandwagon near the end due to prednisone making me a food zombie. Easy labor and delivery.

For pregnancy #2, I didn't really eat that great or workout. Easy labor and delivery.

We're vegetarians and have an active lifestyle - gym, ice skating, swimming, walks, etc. At 20 weeks pregnant I was thinner than I am now. But by 28 weeks I started to develop PIH and was told to take it easy, but 37 weeks I was on hospital bedrest, then strict bedrest at home with pre-e. I blew up with water weight/swelling. Never had any pre-term labor (at least that I could tell), water broke while waiting for induction and I felt his whole body turn and drop down. He was posterior and brow out, they tried to turn him but ended up episiotomy and vacuum.

I was so-so during pregnancy (ate healthy a lot of the time, not super active though) but my delivery, while rough, I wouldn't say it was easy or hard/complicated. I just ended up pushing for a LONG time but that was due to having a narrow pelvic opening. So I think no matter what I did during pregnancy, I would have the same pushing issues.

I had a pretty unhealthy pregnancy in that I didn't exercise at all (high risk pregnancy + conservative MFM recommendation + exhaustion kicking my butt), then went on bedrest for 6 weeks prior to delivery. My L+D was complicated, but it's hard to say how much of that is because I had twins. My recovery was very easy though, easier than a lot of people I know, even though I had a vaginal birth and csection at the same time.

With LO1 I did CrossFit every other day until my due date and I ate paleo. Labor was 51 hours and recovery wasn't easy. My whole pregnancy my mom insisted I that exercising would make labor worse. That wasn't the experience of the other CrossFitters I worked out with.

With LO2 I walked and ate fairly healthy and labor was two hours and easy. Recovery was easy too. I guess most of that is due to being baby #2.

I didn't work out but I did still walk a lot, because I live in the city and it was necessary. I think I ate pretty moderately, and my weight gain was normal (<30 lbs total). Labor and delivery was long in the beginning but not bad, and active labor was pretty quick.

My friend was super fit, worked out 5 days a week and ate healthy, and she had a really hard delivery, pushed for hours, and a bad episiotomy. Her son was sunny side up and just in a really difficult position. She says if she hadn't been in as good shape she definitely wouldn't have been able to push for so long so thinks she would have had a c section- which she isn't convinced would have been worse anyway.

I would say I was pretty healthy in pregnancy (gained the right amount, exercised regularly, ate pretty well) and I had an uneventful labor and delivery (I wouldn't say easy! but no complications, and it was only 7 or 8 hrs total).

Very healthy pregnancy (exercised 3x a week, ate well, gained an appropriate amount of weight), and super easy labor and delivery. This time, I have not been so healthy and am pretty inactive, I hope it doesn't really negatively affect the labor/recovery process.

I was mildly active during pregnancy (prenatal yoga and walking) and did not eat very healthy whatsoever. My labor and delivery was mostly uneventful, although I did exhibit many symptoms of pre-eclampsia which lead to an induction when I was 5 days overdue. I also had a hemorrhage after delivery but did not require a transfusion.

I have several friends who were extremely active/ate healthy during pregnancy and they all had very long labors and complicated deliveries.

Did you find any correlation between how active/healthy you were during pregnancy and how your delivery went? Poll added for good measure.
