I had issues with my incision, but I was glued. When I was a kid, I had a couple of abdominal surgeries and I have a huge vertical scar that starts a little below my belly button and is probably 5-6 inches long. When they did the c-section incision, it criss-crossed my scar. After about a week, DH noticed that the section where they met wasn't closed up (I refused to look at my incision for a loooong time because it freaked me out!). Apparently, it was oozing (yuck!).

I went to the OB to have it checked out and he said that because of my old scar, the new incision wasn't getting as much blood flow in that one area, so it was taking longer to heal. It wasn't infected, but the oozing was my body trying to keep it from getting infected. He prescribed me antibiotics for 10 days and also told me to put honey on it because honey is a natural antiseptic. It was really strange, but every night before bed, DH would pour a small bit of honey over that spot and cover it with a little gauze pad. Within a week, it was all healed up!

DH joked that I was leaking from way too many places on my body. So sexy :silly:

@abbydabbydoodlebug: gah didn't you feel horrible for your husband? I feel so bad he has to manage my wound care bc I can't see well enough to do it. Unfortunately bc my wound is so deep it has to be actually packed... like shove gauze down there. SO GROSS.

I laid a piece of gauze under my roll (yuck, I know lol 9 months in, 9 months out) to keep it dry and after I got my staples out, used neosporin on my opening (approx 1") and it was healed in like two days.

Yikes! I'm sorry you're dealing with this! I've had two c-sections and both healed wonderfully. I didn't have staples that needed to be removed, though.

I got a yeast infection in my incision, gross!! My poor husband had to clean out out and pack it with maxi pads every day. My obgyn told me to put lamasil on it and it took a couple weeks for it to heal! It was so nasty,I can't even. I also had about a 1 inch wide opening in mine. It finally closed up around week 5 maybe? In sorry you have to deal with this!

I am 1 week out from c section and had my staples removed today. Unfortunately my incision is not healing well. I have a mild skin infection ( got antibiotics for that) and there is an area is the incision about 1 inch wide and 4cm deep that is open. So gross!! Worst of all they can't just stitch it up. We ( my husband specifically) has to pack the wound with gauze every day and I'll have follow up visits every few days to make sure it heals and doesn't get infected.

Ugh. I'm so bummed. And kinda freaked out about it all healing up okay.

Anyone else have similar issues ? Would love to hear some people who dealt with this and healed up fine.
