My dad and her mom had been high school sweethearts, and reconnected after their respective divorces. I think I was about 11 when I submitted a letter to a Mennonite kids' pen pal segment in the Sunday School papers. I kept in touch with a few for several years, mostly through email by then. I think I kinda let the last one go when I was 16ish. I randomly ran into her in Wisconsin at the national track meet my senior year of high school! It was several states away from both our home states so it was especially random.
