i was always expecting to be induced for some reason, so that didn't surprise me. then i made no progress at all during it and DS heart rate kept dropping so i had a c-sections, which i wasn't expecting.

No, I pushed for 2 1/2 hours straight and then got a fever which caused DD's heart rate to increase too high and I was sent in for an emergency c-section. Deep down I had a feeling I would end up in a c-section but really wanted to have her naturally.

NO WAY! I was induced and went into labor within a couple of hours, which took 5 hours for the doctors to believe me. I pushed for 15 min and bam there he was. 2 hours later I was throwing up and the doctors insisted I had food poisoning. An hour later I had a seizure, dislocated my shoulder while seizing, and was diagosnosed with HELP Syndrome and E-Clampsia. I don't remember 2 days straight of being in the hospital. The birth was easy peasy, but the after math was scary for my family and took awhile fo rme to recover.

No to the first time. I was induced, went through all 24 hours and stages of labor, pushed for over an hour, and ended up with a c-section

Yes for the second, because I couldn't find a doc who would do VBACs, so I knew I was heading for surgery. Though to keep it interesting, DS decided he wanted to come two weeks before the scheduled c-section....

Pretty much, I was induced both times which was fine with me; I wanted what was best for the baby. Both were pretty quick, DD was 8hrs start of induction to delivery and DS was 4hrs.

@boiledpnut: I have those days where LO is pretty much in my arms the entire time. I've found that if I swaddle her and nestle her to my leg, she doesn't fuss much.

@MaisyMay: Oh, I didn't plan on one per say. I was always told I'd probably need one one day (before getting pregnant), so I just prepared myself to have one eventually. I was right. Baby was wedged in my pelvis face up and wasn't going to come out any other way. I really need to write our birth story, but he hates being put down at this point. :(

No. I hoped and planned for a natural birth, too, but labor was far more painful than I expected (back labor), and in the end I needed a c-section.

@Jennimac: They had me use misopropyl (sp) but for the miscarriage they were vaginal use in a large dose, as a inducer for labor they were a very small dose taken orally. We chose to have our mc at home instead of in a hospital as we were only around 9 weeks. I couldn't imagine what you went through.

@MaisyMay: I had to be induced with cervadil. Luckily my body responded well and it took me on 11 hours of labor. Some women take days to labor that way and on that situation. I'm so sorry about your miscarriage and I'm sure I'd have a ton of questions if I had to take a pill, too. I had a ton of questions for my doctor too. I thought I would just maybe have a D and c, but I was too far along. It was safer for me to labor and deliver. It was therapeutic because we got to hold her later on. That provided some closer for DH and me.

@Jennimac: I had a miscarriage first, and it was horrible. I wasn't too far along, but it was still a nightmare. To my surprise, one of the pills they use to induce is the same as one used to start miscarriages. I had so many questions before I took that pill.

Yes, I think it went very well. It lasted only 9 hours, no complications, and was a vaginal delivery like I wanted. I did have 3rd degree tears, but if that's the worst of it, then that is ok with me. I can only hope the next time goes that well.

Overall, yes. I went into labor naturally, held off as long as I could before getting an epidural and was able to deliver vaginally. I had some curve balls in there--back labor, two failed epidurals, 2 hours of pushing and a scary PP hemorrhage--but in the grand scheme of things they didn't really change the trajectory of my L&D all that much.
